Hello oc community

Been browsing site/forums looking at builds dreaming about buying a pc last few months, recently my friend got a double order of cpu/mobo,ill list them below, and is selling them 2 me for cheap so i have the opportunity of making a decent budget gaming pc.Since i dont have the knowlege of what components go best with what ill be asking advise from you tech heads. Now i havnt bought these parts yet and all together i have 500 pound 2 spend so if yous think i sould buy a diffent build for 500 shoot ahead.Cheers.

Mobo - ASUS P6X58D-E - Intel X58 - Socket 1366 - PCI-E 2.0 (x16) - DDR3 2000 (OC) - 3 x PCIe 2.0 - 3-Way SLI - SATA 6Gb/s - SATA RAID - ATX

CPU - Intel i7-950 Quad-Core Processor (3.06 GHz, 8MB Cache, Socket 1366)

Ill be getting both of them for 250.so thats leaves another 250 for rest.Build doesnt have to include Gfx Card but recommendation of one is welcome as i will be buying at later date.

Youl need to buy a graphics card even if its just a budget one otherwise you wont be able to plug anything into your monitor :P

I'd definately take them. But you will need a bit more in the budget to make any use of them. but thats me.

I'd be tempted to:

a) reject and build something "less good" (no debate please) but go for something less overkill for gaming, like i5, maybe i3 or perhaps AM3.

b) take it and sell it on. :)

but all of this depends on the questions asked by Thekwango

If you're just going to be gaming you can get a lesser CPU (i5) and then put the money you saved towards a better graphics card. Most games don't use much CPU power.

Without a GPU you wont be able to use your PC! There's no video out on that mobo

I was under tghe impression you already have a graaphics card. What card do you have now?

pcAnywhere is right and its a sub par card for this spec.

Alexdrans is right the i5 will be faster and room for better graphics-- you need to weigh this up with the great deal you are getting in my opinion.

1) The amount he's spending on that CPU/MOBO combo is actually the same amount for a new i5 set-up, so it's well worth sticking with the i7.

2) The OP has mentioned he has a graphics card that will see him by for the time being, and will be buying a better one latter in the year.

I feel like iv clearly stated my situation already,ty bJN for reading the post and cheers skylineboy for the build.Ofc i know you need a Gfx card so your monitor will work.I have 500pound all i can spend for the moment im getting ASUS P6X58D-E - Intel X58,i7 950 from mate for 250pound deal seems too good to pass i have a gfx card 210 ****ty i know in my current system That will do for a week or 2 until i get a new Card.So i was simply asking for the help of people that know components compatibility much more then me,2 make me a build around 500 minus the 250 im spending on MOBO/CPU.Theres a reason i never use/post on forums cos a lot of the time i feel i have notting important 2 say think some people sould think the same.

Very impressive i52500k results there, the double order was from a massive online company before xmas i think the time has passed for double charge.but gonna still gonna stick with i7/ASUS P6X58D-E - Intel X58.
