Who plays LFS2? I could do with joining some kinda team really.

Works well with my MOMO. Seems more fun than rFactor and GTR.

I play it now and then, but I'm generally pants unless i'm playing South City Classic with the FOX :p I'll likely start playing it a lot more over the the coming holdays, I hope anyway.

been playing it even more and more recently as its the only game my old pc will handle without slowing down too much, plus its a super game anyway

SNAP :D

We need a noobs only race :>
nah but im always worried about someone jumping down my throat for breaking too early or being slow in general, perhaps knowledge of a server where people accept that noobs are noobs and do break early, perhaps are a little slow on the power etc etc

Ditto, it's slightly annoying when 1337ists think theyre better than you in general just because they can beat you on an online racing game.

so is there a server?
There is a server and it's active most of the time. Sometimes it needs kicking over but it's usually public except for cup races.

The issue with "n00bs" is slightly misunderstood. Nobody is going to jump down your throat for being a bit slow or braking a bit earlier than other people. What new racers get blasted for in general is usually their ignorance of blue flags, but also they tend to over-cook it into the first corner and take an awful lot of people out of the race. What you have to understand is that when you race on a server with drivers that are better than you, you have to be able to accept some critisism if you are ignorant to what's going on around you and you begin to get in people's way.

Perhaps there should be a server for newcomers to practice, but it's easy enough for someone on here to host a 6-7 man server on a normal broadband connection; so why not do that?

Personally I'm only on our server maybe 2-3 nights a week (and maybe over the weekend) which is usually empty otherwise. Feel free to give me a shout if you want some coaching or practice, and i'll help you out if I'm able. That goes for anyone here, really.

I bought S2 a couple of months ago although I never really got into it but now I've finished Uni I've been playing it a bit more and actually went online for a few races!

I'd be up for joining a server with some of you guys as I'm yet another one who is wary of wrecking peoples races and making mistakes. I only know one track too so would like to get some practice at some of the others and preferably online.

There's one thing though I find hard to understand...how do people type messages while they're racing? I take it a lot of them have phrases set to the F keys and so on but pressing F1 or F2 while racing is hard work for me!

:)

lol sounds good to me, and im usually pretty quick out of the way if a blue flag pops up

if they have a wheel then they can type and race at the same time....also they will have more customised and specific F key binds

Hope no team member on the OCUK.Racing server has come across like this! When not having team cup races (although quiet at the moment) the races are generally pretty relaxed with the emphasis on fun improvement. Certainly the fastest guys are very friendly and offer advice and tips when asked.

As Elk said, it's not a fps and a player playing badly will most probably effect the other players in a negative way. Take criticsm as friendly help, if it's not friendly, find another server that recognises your pace on the track and is fun to be a part of.

If you really aren't going to feel confident at being competitive on the track, as long as you learn basic courtesy and awareness of the other drivers you can still have a blast. Don't be put off by the fast drivers who lack courtesy and maturity when they play a simple game.

As you asked, our team plays on "OCUK.Racing" server, which is sometimes passworded, my licensed name is Nutrition so feel free to add me as a buddy on LFSworld.net and stalk me when online.

never had it on the few occasions ive been on ocuk racing, tbh its one of the places i feel a little more comfortable having a stab at online racing

Considering LFS is getting a few more users from the OcUK group, maybe the owners of the OcUK sever could set up an OcUK meet, for new guys and old guys, so the veterans can help the new guys to get better, share setups, share techniques and the like, might be a good idea...what do you think?

Its a great game, but even with the latest patch the cars still have virtually no grip at low speeds, its like driving on ice. Quite how you can spin a car by turning fairly lightly at 30mph without accelerating is beyond me.

Thats good to hear and don't be afraid to ask for tips/setups whenever you're on.

We never really seem to have any problems with people driving like muppets thankfully, but remember that the faster guys can cause just as much trouble by not being aware that a car they are about to pass could be braking a lot earlier than themselves and carrying a lot less corner speed.

Sounds good to me, we normally have a friendly race on Wednesdays but at the moment there is the Summer Cup going on. It might be worth taking a look at the race calendar on the team website and practicing for the upcoming rounds if you want to make a late entry.

I'm online most nights, racer name is Bean0 if you want to find me.

I have to disagree, the way the cars handle since the patch is a geat improvement. It could be down to your driving style or the setup you are using.

now that i have some spare time on my hands I have started to really get into LFS as it is such a good game.

I'm still new to it though and have only managed a 1:37 with the gti on th BL track :(

I have ordered a DFP wheel which should arrive today and i'm hoping this will really enhance my LFS experience :D
