Hi All

I don't post often so apologies if this is inappropriate or the wrong place to ask. I purchased a LG 27GL850 monitor from Overclockers last year, its great, does exactly what it says on box. I was hoping someone could offer some advice please, the supplied display port cable is very short, I am looking to replace it with a 3 meter version, not being technically minded and reading other peoples varying experiences of purchasing a replacement it would be great if someone could recommend a cable that will cause no issues and allow the monitor to operate to its full potential, the supplied cable works great, its just too short. I am also looking to replace the wobbly stand that the monitor ships with, my preference would be a long reach gas lift style arm, there are so many to choose from, reading around the web certain arms don't fit due to the quick release system for the supplied stand, I was again hoping that someone who has replaced their stand could suggest an arm that fits within the vesa quick release connection of the monitor, I do not wish to modify the new stand by sanding bits off etc, would just like one that fits out the box. Thanks in advance.

I use a KabelDirekt displayport cable 1.4, at 3M it can do 2560x1440 at 144Hz fine, actually it will do 3440x1440 at 144Hz fine, I have an ultrawide I have used this on aswell but it is currently being used with my LG GN850. I can't be too specific as it's from an OcUK competitor I am afraid. If you want to be certain it will be ok search for one that is VESA displayport 1.4 certified or more. I can't advise accurately on the stand as the GL and GN 850s have different stands but looking at the fitting on my GN850 though I see no reason the Silverstone SST ARM11BC I have wouldn't fit (I have had it 10 years or so but they still make these and you can buy them if you search), however as I said, the GL850 does have a different stand design so bear that in mind as I am not sure if the fitting is actually different or not.

Hello Moeks

Thanks, your information is really helpful. I will order a certified VESA display port 1.4 cable. The stand looks great as well, I note it is for up to 24inch screens but it looks similar to ones I have been viewing and gives me a good starting point. Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

Yea but for reference it holds that ultrawide I mentioned, the AOC CU34GX2 ...which is a lot heavier than the LG. The sizing isn't really relevant on a single monitor arm, it's how much weight it will take that matters. As I say a 34" ultrawide is 'ok' but to be fair it's pushing it to it's limit and isn't ideal, but the much lighter LG 27" would be absolutely fine. My second monitor on this system is an Asus 27" and once taken off the stand that weighs more than the LG aswell as it's got the power supply built in and I used to use than on that same VESA arm and it was fine, no problem at all with weight, but it's about 3KG lighter than the Ultrawide

Oh I just thought I can actually measure the head on the Silverstone mount, that could be about as useful as I can be now, it's 11.5cm across at the widest point and 16cm on the diagonal (has holes for 75mm and 100mm spacings), you could see if that will fit the space on the GL850
