"1ms Motion Blur Reduction"
A monitor’s response time is absolutely critical in games. The 1ms Motion Blur Reduction feature will allow gamers to enjoy the precision and accuracy needed to play at a very high level. With a response time that is virtually 1ms*, blurring and ghosting are dramatically reduced to make the in-game action smoother and gamer reactions more quick.

Hi Guys,

Great to see this post today as I have just been at OCUK HQ today discussing this very product with Gibbo.

SO - this will be available in October, and it's looking very much like the launch partner for this product will be........you guessed it....OCUK :)

Spec wise some of what is at the top of this post does differ to what I have so lets go through the best bits;

38" Curved IPS
3840 x 1600 21:9
2 x HDMI, 1 x DP
2 x USB-3, 1 x USB-C
2 x 10w Speakers with Bluetooth & Rich Bass
sRGB Over 99% (of course)
60Hz Refresh, 52-75Hz with Freesync Via DP
1ms Motion Blur Reduction
Pre-Set Game Modes (FPS 1, FPS 2, RTS, Custom)
Black Stabiliser
Dynamic Action Sync - ultra low 9.7ms input lag

All in All this screen does tick a lot of boxes, albeit it does not have G-sync (I know, I know), but I think this showcases what LG can offer you guys, and I am very excited about next year as I hope there is some serious new kit to come!

Hello Daniel and thanks for stopping by.

Would you be able to provide any more technical details for those of us that wish to pre-order?

1. Will NVIDIA cards be artificially locked (frame skipping) into max 60 Hz refresh rate like on the LG 34UC88?

2. Can you confirm the advertised blur reduction at 75 Hz is indeed back-light strobing/flicker? Does it strobe once per refresh or two times?

3. If NVIDIA cards are indeed locked to 60 Hz because of no Freesync, since a built in strobing backlight is completely independent of Freesync, will the 75 Hz strobing backlight work with NVIDIA cards?

Having Freesync is a GOOD thing, but not allowing NVIDIA cards to go above 60 Hz is a pretty bad decision considering NVIDIA has the vast majority of the high end GPU market that is actually capable of running this display properly. ;)

Nice, TFTCentral tweeted that it does in fact have a strobing back-light as tested!

I guess the million dollar question is since Freesync has nothing do do with a strobing backlight, cay you enable it on NVIDIA cards?

****, he confirmed in that vid that nVidia users only get 60Hz :(

Looks like we're waiting for Acer/Asus!!!

All hope is not lost, Badass said NVIDIA can use strobing backlight mode, which I assume is 75 Hz. That's the mode you would want to use for gaming anyway. But yes, on the desktop flicker free 60 Hz max for NVIDIA does suck. No idea why LG does this when there is zero reason to.

TFTCentral has already put out that the screen can run 75 Hz on NVIDIA cards in backlight strobing mode. LG, for whatever reason, deliberately went out of their way to cap it at 60 Hz in non-strobing mode. They also capped it to 60 Hz with AMD in non-Freesync mode.

They would have to explain why they did this. It is not a hardware limitation.

It has 75Hz listed as an available refresh rate from amd and nvidia cards and can be set without problems. I'm still doing final testing regarding compatibility in different scenarios but hope to have the review completed very soon

Cannot wait. One thing I believe happened with the previous LG is you could set higher refresh rates, but with NVIDIA it would just frame skip making it a moot point.

I wouldn't be surprised if NVIDIA frame skipped above 60 Hz on this monitor too, but hopefully not in strobing backlight mode!

Thank's for the review Badass!

It's a shame the panel turned out so slow on pixel transitions, and the scalar getting it's hands in everything causing lag...

Did you by chance see if the strobing backlight mode could overclock at all? IE: 76 Hz and up?

Was the input lag the same in 75 Hz Freesync and strobe backlight mode?

I'm not sure I could handle 75 Hz flicker...

not tried any overclocking at all, not sure if i have time to do so but i might manage to take a look. The lag was the same regardless of refresh rate or blur reduction being active, i did check that

I was just curious if you still had the monitor. If the refresh rate could make it to 80 or 85 the strobing may be a lot more bearable. I know it would be a long shot.

37.5" 3840x1600 is a pretty cool display resolution/size.

I think it's just a culmination of:

1. Slower pixels.
2. Weaker contrast.
3. Class 2 input lag.
4. 75 Hz strobe flicker in motion clarity mode.
5. Higher end price.
6. 60 Hz NVIDIA fixed refresh mode maximum.

All add up together.

Only had it a couple of days so still getting used to it, doesn't look that much bigger than the 34" but much sharper image due to the higher res, out of the box the colours are spot on and only had to lower the brightness.

Played a bit of cs go and got OK but had to increase the speed of the mouse.

So far so good and if I had to discribe it I would say it's a happy medium between 4k and 21.9

3440x1440 @ 34" is 110 PPI and 3840x1600 @ 37.5" is 111 PPI so they should look virtually identical as far as clarity. Unless you sit slightly further back from the 37.5" due to it's larger size, that will make it appear more clear.

Have you tried the strobing backlight mode? Does the 75 Hz flicker bother you?

How long before we see a G-Sync variant of this panel I wonder? Why don't LG ever do it? Is it simply because of the cost? Given what the likes of Acer/Asus charge for the X34/PG34 and LG's superior design (IMO), I can't believe they wouldn't sell well.

If they did a 75 Hz version of this with G-Sync even with higher cost I would have bought it already.
