Hey all. Treated myself to the G1 55inch LG and a PS5 this weekend. Gotta say the TV is stunning. Picture is amazing. I spent a while working out whether to get the G or the C1 but I wanted a slightly brighter TV so went with the G. Does seem a bit of a rip off that it doesn't come with a decent stand but I got a sanus stand.

Previous TV was a 49" older Sony Bravia so thats now going on my bedroom haha.

My son had a quick go on ratchet and clank and the graphics are amazing, gorgeous colours.

Sacrilege that a 2k TV doesn't come with a stand! Lol

My only slight problem now is my avr only has hdmi 2.0 so I've I've to plug the ps5 straight into the TV. Sound still seems to.work though.

Depending on how old the AVR is you will either have ARC or eARC - the TV takes the sound output from each HDMI and sends it to the AVR.

eARC is better as it can deal with lossless audio.

The G1 is fantastic I've got one since John Lewis got their first batch. Huge noticeable upgrade on the C7 I had previously.

Also benefits from 5 year manufacturer guarantee from LG including screen burn LG confirmed to Vincent Teoh at HDTV Test. The only OLED where they do this.

Think there is a price drop starting this week or in the next few days in the UK.

Well you did buy a flagship TV designed to be used on the wall as a minimalist look

For 2grand it should come with a stand.

eARC is better as it can deal with lossless audio.

But there not 2.1 ports. With the ps5 plugged into the avr I don't get the full rgb or whatever it says in the video settings. Plugged straight into the TV I do. Because there 2.1 HDMI.

No, but very few receivers have more than one HDMI 2.1 input.

That's why most people use the new consoles (or PC) directly in to the TV.

Things like Sky Q, Blu-ray players etc can go in to the AVR as they only need HDMI 2.0. Nintendo Switch only needs 1.4a

Yep that's what I do I have my rtx 3080 pc and Xbox series X both plugged directly into TV. I get Atmos from both through pass through to my soundbar (Sony htst5000).

Yeah that's how I have it. Doesnt seem to matter, everything works as it should.

I do have 1 anoying problem though. In finding it hard to actually get my virgin to come through the TV. The sound is there but the actual picture isn't. I've managed to find it a few times by turning stuff off and on but it's random. Don't understand why it doesn't work straight away. I have the avr on cbl/sat which is what the virgin box is plugged in.

Hi, is the G1 a smart TV that you can cast to?

My chrome cast broke so I'm looking for a TV I can cast to.

Cheers in advance

Hi,

When you watch videos on your phone or tablet, some TVs have a feature where you can send the video to the tv over wifi to watch it on the big screen.

it’s quite smart especially since there’s never anything on the TV anyway!

What if behind your TV is a window, how do I window mount it
Then that is not the TV you are looking for. :)

Look, what I'm saying is only tongue in cheek but personally if I couldn't wall mount the TV I wouldn't buy a TV that was designed specifically to be wall mounted.

Edit: And the answer to your question is obviously that you need to buy rubber suckers to put on the back of the TV so you can stick it to the window.
