LG 60" Plasma has died... what next?

£2,950 I think it was in the end. From place with 6 years warranties.

I was looking at these in JL with black friday deals and they are lovely set for the money.

Prices should be the same in January, possibly slightly lower.

I'm waiting for CES in mid Jan to see what the 2017 models are like first though so I can see what the improvements are, if not much then I might pick up a cheap 65" B6 as well.

Have you had any banding/uniform white issues with yours?

Spent the last few hours playing around with it and have to say I think its an amazing TV. I hadnt told the wife about the purchase, I managed it to get it setup and all the rubbish packed away with 5 mins before she got home. Took her 37 seconds to realise the elephant in the room :D

Had some odd motion issues at first, but 2 or 3 firmware updates and turning off all the daft motion, edge enhancing features and the picture looks wonderful. As I starting point I used the AV Forums calibration settings on YouTube and tweaked them a little. The end result is very natural colours and not the oversaturated pop settings it came with out the box.

Sound is surprising good as well.

The UI deserves special mention. It really is slick and very easy to use. i upgraded my Netflix subscription for the 4k and had a play with some of the 4k and HDR content. It really does shine on these.

You're not making this any easier to say no to that one :p

Haha sorry. Few pics of it just sat on the AV unit. Still debating whether to wall mount it or not yet. The bracket from where the 50" plasma was wall mounted is still in place until I decide.

Few pics of the Last of Us part 2 reveal in 4k. Taken just with camera but you get the idea.

I take it that's a 55". Looks to small to be a 65"?

One thing to take into consideration is image retention.
On the OLED there may be some of this to take into account as you did say that almost all useage is via a mac mini. If this is general computer/desktop use I'm not sure OLED would be a good choice? If it's just the video source then you can't really go wrong.

Yeah I wouldn't recommend an OLED for any desktop use.

It's image retention as opposed to burn-in (i.e. it does go) but they aren't really suited to lots of static images for prolonged amounts of time.

mmmm so nice...

This is what I have on mine...

I know, right?

I've been talking to someone and they said it might be the Y-SUS board, which is 25quid, so I think I'll change that out and see if it fixes it. They're a simple swap out, so will give it a try for 25quid anyway.
