LG C1 OLED as a monitor

I have 1440p OLED on my laptop and its great.

I cant wait until it becomes cheaper and more easily available in more products.
Funny isn't it.

I've read several articles that say OLED may never be economic to produce at 32" or below (for monitors and smaller TVs).

At the same time there are phones and other devices with very small OLED displays.

So how does that work... How can it be that OLED monitors can not be made cheaply but you can have a much smaller OLED display in your phone?

Well my OLED laptop screen is 13.3 inch so i did find it odd there were so few options between that and huge TV`s.

i would have loved to buy a 24 or 27 inch oled monitor

Yeah it isnt making sense. I know phones are breakthrough in the tech moving rapid but even the stereotypical smartphone thats worth £500 out of the box has specifications way more affordable than these components we are being drip fed.
Because phones are more compact and possibly cheaper to produce and phones have a bigger market share (I would imagine).

TV's have been around longer and are equally massive in market share? Another angle on your point, if you crack your screen why is it the cost of the repair is so high if the screen is compact and cheap to produce? Bear in mind a phone has lots of expensive components like cameras, telephony, wifi etc. to justify the value...

Yeah good point, I didn't read the whole thread and I thought that it was referring to an expensive newly released computer monitor. To answer your point though a few years ago I damaged the screen on an iPhone ,( can't remember which model is was), it was only a year or so old I think and it cost me about £60 to replace. At the time I didn't consider it too expensive, it was a phone repair shop and they've got to cover the cost of the screen and their own overheads. I think the mats and manufacturing costs for a single flagship handset is probably no more than £100 and probably a lot less. A lot of profit is being made along the lines. We are seeing the costs of TVs dwindle, but the cost of PC monitors are if anything becoming more expensive.
