Unfortunately Gsync Pulsar is only for LCD displays and the first monitor with it has a native 360hz refresh - will be interesting to test out the 360hz ips with Gsync Pulsar against the 480hz OLED

You’re getting it slightly confused. That 1000Hz reference is the “equivalent motion clarity” when using ULMB, which they calculate as 4x the refresh rate

So looks like Asus have announced their monitor with this panel, ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDP. Glossy coating looked great in the YT video I watched

Good news, the 1080p 480hz mode can be viewed down to 24 inches if you like but he says 1080p at 32inch looks good as well

480hz OLED is as good as it sounds with monitor competing with top esports panels that use frame insertion to simulate 1000hz. He says he has been using a 540hz TN monitor for fps gaming and turning on ulmb2/dyac2 to simulate 1000hz and after testing the 480hz OLED, he can easily switch to using the OLED for his esports instead

He also says text clarity is great and it's about as clear as any rgb display

It's still a really interesting consideration tbf.

I reckon I've comfortably got the hardware grunt to play single player games at 4k60 (potentially pushing higher than that with FSR/lowering quality settings depending on the title) - and 240hz is just lovely for general PC use. My life/work is spent scrolling through an unfair amount of spreadsheets and PDFs - and doing that even at 120hz is so much nicer than 60.

Optimum Tech's review mentioned that 1080p at 32" isn't awful if you've got the space to move the screen back a decent amount - which I could do with an 80cm deep desk. So you'd then almost have the best of both worlds in a single monitor. 4k 240hz for work from home and 4k for single player titles / games that I don't need or want to push more frames - and then 1080p480hz for titles where I care more about having a lot of frames.

In all honesty though, I'm only really going to take advantage of 480hz in OW2, The Finals is around 230 at peak dropping to 170/180 when it's chaotic (although this is at 1440p currently).

Very interested to see what it's priced at in the UK though and when it'll be available.

Tbh I think the extra clarity that oled brings def helps with this, as 1080p on a normal 32" lcd is pretty ******* bad!!

Yeah, definitely agree. I only have to go to the office occasionally and have a 1080p 27" monitor there which looks pretty atrocious.

Agreed, after using my 4K TV for a while (obviously sat back about 1.5m or so due to the size) even 1440p lacks clarity so even with OLED 1080p must look a bit naff if sat close. I suppose it won't be so bad in-game.
