Agreed. Other than the extra brightness and colour volume are there other noticeable upgrades on the G5 over the G4.

yeah my C9 supports DTS I have used E-ARC out even though I have no need for it, but I'd make sure the next TV has DTS.
Since consoles and media boxes don't have dual out (like Panasonic BD 820) in case you want to send video to TV audio to soundbar.
To use E-ARC for PCM/stereo/Dolby HD/Atmos but then find DTS 5.1, DTS X and DTS HD not working would be PITA.

Only here! Apparently the US model gets the new one.I see the G5 still comes with the same naff remote.
Meaning theoretically you could buy one... Can't guarantee it would pair.
I still prefer the standard IR remote.

There is no perfect TV
Apparently we're not getting it due to a regional "regulations issue", whatever that means.
I'm not sure the improvements are worth the £1,500 difference between what I paid for mine and what the G5 will be.

Oh good point! Most likely no colour buttons.
Simplest solution is to pack a standard remote with the TV, it must work for Samsung (whose smart remote is remarkably similar).
And the next best thing is always just around the corner. I dont think anybody is going to be disappointed with their G4s anytime soon...There is no perfect TV
from what I understand that white subpixel will still wash out the colours even if the colours get brighter now compared to before, the QD-OLED panels are just getter technology, better colour volume, better uniformity, better brightness without washing out colours, just Samsung needs larger size and better product delivery. Over the next few years, printed OLED should help drop prices at the larger sizes.
Until they fix the grey blacks on QD oled I'll never buy one as a TV, the grey blacks ruin all the other benefits
Until they sought out panel uniformaty in general on OLED I want be joining the party again. I saw one reviewer mentioning vertical banding on the G5 and 'it wasnt that bad'. It shouldnt be there on a TV costing that much as all.

It could disappear on the first cycle, my replacement panel had it. I thought oh great...did a cycle and went away (or I could have left it until the first 2000 one, or the short 10 minute cycle after 40 hours or whatever)
yeah unfortunately they have elevated blacks because they lack the polarizer, but generally they have better uniformity than WOLED and I would take that, if you watch in a light controlled room the raised blacks are not noticeable, but understand this may be issue for many. I can't wait for micro led walls and the price is dropping specially with Chinese manufacturers and so is the pixel pitch.
Which one are you using? I used Logitech Harmony in the past but these days I’m mostly standardised on the Apple TV one.
