LG IPS235V

I've watched a few films and TV programmes on mine. No blurring at all.

The IPS235V should be better than the 235V as it is the more recent, updated version.

Hey,
I am considering buying this monitor.
I was pretty much set on it until I started reading these reviews on the amazon.de with the help of google translate.
Nearly every review mentions how shaky the stand is, although most of them rate the monitor 5 stars!
Do you find the stand very shaky and is it an issue?

Also considering the Iiyama ProLite X2377HDS-1 and the Dell U2312HM.

whats the viewing angle like? Im getting a monitor for someone who wants todo photo work, so need a decent real viewing angle where colours arent changing tone etc...

this is much cheaper than the viewsonic I was going to purchase for him

I was waiting for my Ivy Bridge build to buy this but apparently it is now end-of-life:
This model we've been told is now End Of Life.
We have many other IPS Panels to choose from also please take a look.

I have contacted another store for confirmation. (EDIT: here it is)
I'm interested in purchasing the monitor LG IPS235V in the near future. However, I contacted a different store asking them why they were out of stock and they said it was End of Life. Is it possible for you to confirm/deny this?
[17:02:06] <Alex>: yes it is
[17:02:18] <Alex>: as far as we are aware LG are bring out a new version in the near future
[17:02:24] <Alex>: but we have no details yet
[17:02:45] <Alex>: I have one, its a brilliant screen so I would not let that put you off buying it

I'll probably snap this up now in time for my build at £140 - I expect LG will release a new panel, but I'm not willing to risk it.

Have you settled yet on your favourite calibration settings?

Hi, I'm in Australia and can only source the IPS235P (not V). Seems like adjustable stand is the main difference. Had anyone got any info on if it differs in any way? Gaming performance etc.
There's a worryingly small amount of info on the web about the P variant.
EDIT: I went and got it anyway as my on-the-brink Dell died completely. So far, it's a complete beauty!

IPS tech is very good for viewing angles and consistent colours. This will be no exception

would you recommend it for gaming, I don't really play fast paced game, but been looking for a new monitor for months but there is so many looks like I may have finally found one, and lastly is it 1620x1080 or 1920x1080 thanks :)

EDIT: did the new model ever come out for this like mentioned above?

... My LG IPS235 does have a little bit of backlight bleed in the bottom right which seemed to look worse because i was sat looking up at the monitor but now i have a new chair which puts my eyes level with the middle of the screen it is hardly noticable. I have also turned down the brightness to 65 as the whites were just too bright. ...

So I bought one two days ago, and while I love the punchy deep colours, I was crestfallen to find significant backlight bleed along the top edge of the monitor. At least, it feels significant to me, but until now I have been a big screen plasma man, so I'm not used to LCDs. I can only see the backlight bleed when I am playing a movie with a black border top and bottom, or when showing a very dark picture. Under these conditions I see two pools of white light along the top edge of the screen, one about a third of the way in from the left, and one just over halfway along from the left. If I squeeze the plastic bezel I can get the backlight bleed to increase significantly. Having said all that, under normal usage with mixed images on my screen (gaming and music production) I do not notice it at all.

Is this to be expected with LCD panels? Or should I take it back? Thanks...

If you can take it back and swap it for another one then you should. At first, when I got my LG IPS235 I thought I could live with the bit of backlight bleed but it is very distracting when watching films. I now have a 27" IPS monitor which has no backlight bleed at all and is much better for films and games. The 23" LG has been moved into the bedroom and i will at some point get a HD set top box and some speakers and use it as a TV.

I think that the backlight bleed on these monitors is down to the bezel "pinching" the screen slightly but the bezel is clipped to the back of the monitor very strongly so I dont want to damage the screen if I try and fix it.

My IPS235P has this but it has no visible effect on normal viewing, only on a black screen. And I don't watch films on it so not bothered at all. Cracking screen otherwise.
LCDs generally have some backlight bleeding and I wouldn't be sure a replacement would completely solve the issue

Thanks guys. It's good to know I'm not the only one. I must say that as an engineer with a knowledge of plastics, amongst other things, I'm tempted to try and fix it, but it's a risk so I think I'll stick with it and put up with it. Actually I turned the brightness down anyway and I noticed that that helped a bit. I guess that delivering an IPS screen of that quality for that price (159 Euros in Germany for me) means that costs had to be cut somewhere.

I've owned 3 or 4 LCD's, Dell, ViewSonic etc. They've all had some to a degree but I admit this LG is more prevalent. LCD's are backlit so the light comes through in more than others

Looks like I have been very lucky with monitors and you have been very un-lucky Hen_Dawg. :D

Can I just say that I stuck with this screen, and after many weeks I'm really happy that I have. I have grown to love the quality of the image and the depth of the colours. It really is so much better than my supposedly state-of-the-art 29" LCD panel at work. I don't notice the ghosting at all, although I am not watching films with black bars top and bottom.

So if you're just passing through, and you read my earlier negative comments, please don't be put off buying this screen! It displays a wonderful image (my opinion).
