Just ordered a lg226WTQ! I hope ive made the right choice. Had a budget of £200 for a 22 inch widescreen. Am i going to notice a big difference going from a very old 17inch crt? I bought it mainly for gaming on my new 8800gtx as i want to utilise its power more (running at 1280x1024 max at the mo). Obviously i wanted a much bigger viewing area to. I've never had an lcd before.

Have i made the right choice?

on a budget of £200, you couldn't have made a better choice... some people will say spend the extra on a dell or a samsung, but like you say, a budget of £200...

The lg's spec blows the others away, 2ms response... 3000:1 cont. ratio... absolutely stunning screen for the price.

It's a pretty bright screen, but that can be adjusted easily enough, the colours are VERY vivid, white is white, black is black, never seemed to get that with crt's.. oh, and you can turn the annoying blue power led off in the software that comes with it :D

I'd say you have made the perfect choice dude, and you will most certainly not regret it :)

I'm looking in the direction of this monitor right now among the sammy ones and couple others...sounds promising.

its one kick ass monitor! great for playing games at 1680x1050, as it was my first widescreen going from 15" crt i know it was mindblowing, i hardly notice the difference in responses, pictures are vivid.

It can be a pain setting it up out of the box (physically requires some force) but once together its stunning, have a look at this picture one its all set up.

ok cheers guys, you have reasurred me i have made the right choice! should be coming tomorrow :D

i've just bought one and it should arrive tomorrow, for the price and what people have said about sounds good

i'm going from a 17" tft that recently went faulty to the 22" and cant wait for it to turn up

I got one last week as the samsung was out of stock plus more expensive and so far it has been money well spent, probably the best £200 i've spent on the computer for a while :)
Its very impressive going from a 17" to this so much so my brothers thinking of replacing hit 22" crt for one or a similar sized screen.
Only a bit of light bleed at the bottom but its nothing that really bothers me.

This monitor looks great. I was going to get the Samsung 226 until I discovered all the issues with it but this LG looks to have the same spec and it's cheaper.

I have to ask, are there any major issues with it? Not that I don't trust large organisations or anything :) , but it seems a bit too good to be true.

 ah well, just recieved mine and its doa. pixel flicker, discolouration, lines everywhere, distorted...everything. so angry.

it happens mate, just ring oc back and tell them its not working, they will sort it out for you no worrys, they did the same with my speakers a while back.

also their is not any problems with the UK versions, American versions of the monitor suffer from ghosting and excess backlight bleeding but Eu versions are very nicely made.

mine arrived and it is working fine, not even had to adjust the colours on it yet

sinny are you using the dvi cable that comes with it as currently on vga, the setup guide doesn't help either

as a silly question probably but do you need the vga cable plugged in with the dvi cable as the picture seems to suggest ?

Don't have the model that the OP specified, but all I can say is that after receiving my MW series one, I've been blown away by it.

Well done LG :D

And @ stickroad, if you want the extra connectors it provides I'd heavily advocate that you get it, well worth the money. (I even paid an extra premium to import  )

Hey JSD, does your monitor have a DVI connection on it and does it come with a DVI Cable?

Interface: Analog / HDMI (DVI requires HDMI/DVI Cable/Converter) not to sure what that means?

Really interested in buying this, what do you think of it?

its means the monitor has an hdmi connection but will work with dvi by using one of those adapters or dvi to hdmi lead

Ok thanks, im guessing the converter dosent come with the screen or the lead?

Is their any quality loss because you have to use a converter/lead rather than having a DVI Connection on both the GPU and the Screen?

yep, if you mean the digital > digital i am, was very easy to setup and alows me to configure the screen without using the dinky buttons underneath.

got it working on dvi, just plugged in dvi cable and not even needed to install that driver off the cd

very pleased with the monitor

i didn't get mine from ocuk, got it else where but unluckly for yours to be faulty

whats the deal with the warranty with lg they going to swap it or ocuk going to do it ?
