LHC breaks own record, could find Sparticles, not Sparticus.

Nice and small:

The ATLAS general-purpose detector.

After three hours of stable colliding beams and around half a million events todays successfully experiments were concluded earlier today.

LHC is on it's way.

This is why we no longer live in tree's. We have a desire for knowledge and the LHC is worth every penny. We should spend more of our taxes on things like this.

That video has made my day.

Very true, of all the types of forces (strong, weak, nuclear, mavity), we have yet to even find a graviton during experiment.

It'd be a real shame if the LHC proves the theory to be wrong.

or it could open up whole new theorys which could lead to a differnt way of thinking. Could be very benefishal in the long run. Always wanted to live on the moon...bit of an anti-socialite really.

Yes. Raises an interesting point. We used to spend lots of public money on this kind of thing - think about rolling out the BT copper network, the moon shot, the US freeways and our motorway network... these days we seem to spend virtually all public money on 'everyone'. By that I mean it's spread out as frontline services without much left over the big grand projects.

I think we should spend less on the bread and butter services and more on grand projects.
