Hi all,
I've just bought the Lian LI IB01 5 port Raid card and am having some issues setting up!
I want to install windows 7 on to a Raid 5 array but can't seem to find any key combinations i can press during boot up to kick off a "build raid" type screen. With this in mind i have taken the following steps to build the raid:
1. set the jumpers to the "clear position", plugged the card in to the pc with a hard drive attached to the Mobo that booted to windows and pressed the "activate raid" button to clear the settings.
2. Switched off, Set the jumpers to raid 5 and did the same thing.
I then tried to find a way to build straight on to the raid before windows but couldn't find anything.
From there i have done the following:
3. i set up 3 hard drives with raid 5 through the controller whilst booting XP from a hard drive on the motherboard.
4. I tried installing windows 7 on the Raid drives from within windows, i chose "load driver" when selecting the disk and loaded the card driver to the installation.
5. There was an error below saying windows will not be able to be installed as the card cannot be booted from. i tried anyway and it did fail.
I am currently running with the raid seperate from my OS disk but this isn't ideal. I have also tried updating my bios to see if that made any options more visible but still didnt see anything. My motherboard is an Intel DG35EC if that helpful.
Does anyone have any advice? I'm totally stumped =[
