Okay, having searched high and low for the right case for me I decided on the Lian Li PC-A10. It is trully and excellent case & i was very pleased with it untill i turned it on and heared the Wind-Tunnel roar.
My goodness what a noise, Anyway The spec inside is shown on my sig.
I have tried different combinations of the fans on and off and the results are below.
- All fans tested at medium setting using the fan controller supplied with the case.
-Cpu Fan Contolled By Bios - Idle Temp = 30c.
Config 1 - Underline = Not Active
PSU /CPU Fan/Graphics Card
/Hardrive 1/Hardrive 2/Front Fan/Rear Fan/Top Fan /Side Fan
Config 2 - Underline = Not Active
PSU /CPU Fan/Graphics Card/Hardrive 1/Hardrive 2
/Front Fan/Rear Fan/Top Fan /Side Fan
Config 3 - Underline = Not Active
PSU /CPU Fan/Graphics Card/Hardrive 1/Hardrive 2/Front Fan
/Rear Fan/Top Fan /Side Fan
Config 4 - Underline = Not Active
PSU /CPU Fan/Graphics Card/Hardrive 1/Hardrive 2/Front Fan/Rear Fan
/Top Fan /Side Fan
Config 5 - Underline = Not Active
PSU /CPU Fan/Graphics Card/Hardrive 1/Hardrive 2/Front Fan/Top Fan
/Rear Fan /Side Fan
Config 6 - Underline = Not Active
PSU /CPU Fan/Graphics Card/Hardrive 1/Hardrive 2/Front Fan/Side Fan
/Rear Fan /Top Fan
RESULTS
Config 1 Comments: Very good Noise level, can't hear it from 1m away.
Config 2 Comments: Very good Noise level, can't really hear it from 1m,
away, slight mettalic hum from Harddrives.
Config 3 Comments: Very good Noise level, can't really hear it
from 1m away, slight mettalic wine/hum from Harddrives and hum from
front fan.
Config 4 Comments: Very audible hum from Rear Fan
- Sounds like air is hitting an object “could be fan covering”.
Config 5 Comments: Very audible hum from Top Fan
- Again Sounds like air is hitting an object.
Config 6 Comments: Very good Noise level, can't really hear it
from 1 m away, the patent side fan makes very little noise,
the fan only has a very thin grill on it, this could be responsible for the low sound as the rear and top fans have quite thick grils on?
My conclusion at the moment is that the grills are making much of the noise.
So has anybody had the same experience with this case or any other suggestions?
Thanks (sorry about all the text)
