Lian li PC V300

woohoo - mines just come - I have given a good inspection and it looks very nice

bigger than I thought it was going to be. the box of goodies is trapped in the hardrive cage so I can't fiddle with that ;)

now comes mission 'sneak it past girlee n build it up to surprise her laters'. :D

You mean 'sneak it past girlee so she won't kill you for spending more money on computer parts' :p

hehe - not as bad as that - I originally ordered it from another retailer but it failed to show - the case change was sposed to be part of me girlees birthday pressy.

I'll be putting her BioStar 330P up for sale soon.

I've bought this case and i still won't be able to get my Zalman CNPS9500-AM2 Aero Flower (Socket AM2/939/754) CPU Cooler (HS-021-ZA) into this case :( Doh! Totally Gutted!

Selling like hot cakes m8 to be honest and the Next stock is 6 weeks away.

I would get order in A.S.A.P

Silver is Most populat twice the sales to black.

I can't believe they are still selling this well. I can understand a huge initial surge for a new case due to a month or so of previews, but such continued demand for this case shows either OcUK have it priced very very well ( ;) ) or that its a cracking case ( ;) ).

On my list of cases to get, was going to put down the cash for one today but got an ATCs 500 instead. :D

9" GFX - how can you tell ?

I'm looking at pairing this this with a 6300+ASRock MATX but am worried about the 9" GFX card restriction - which cards must be avoided? would a 7600GS be ok?

I wouldn't have thought a 7600 would give any bother length wise - the ones that would are probably 7900/7950's

I put a x850 in it and it was fine.

one thing to note is the side fan extractor is very slim - if you want to replace it with a coloured one make sure it's a 15mm one.

I have a spare Akasa blue kicking about but it was too chunky - the fan blades touched the h/s/f on the processor.

very straight forward build last night - took about 2 hours or so.

my woman was very pleased with it - I sneaked it in while she was in the kitchen and built it during the evening.

nice lot of room inside the cd/dvd holder - I managed to pust a lot of unwanted power cables inside.

the hd area sits right over the sata connectors on the mobo I have so that was a nice bonus.

the case sides have 6 small screws each to take out - they are very small too so make sure you have a small cross headed screwdriver to hand.

I've had a major problem with these screws, getting undone was a nightmare to say the least. I've managed to get them out, but 2 have a least more or less stripped the head to use a screwdriver on them again. Anyone any idea's where i could get some replacment screws please?

Thanks

You were using the wrong screwdriver then!

Mate i'm a mechanic by trade, i'm used to using the correct tools for the job in hand. I doubt very much i've used the wrong screwdriver, as been mentioned the aluminium reacting to the screws and bonding tighter than they (Lian-li) probably anticipated. I've built many a pc over the years, just not sure on where to get screws from but thanks for the heads up to get in touch with Lian-li. :D

:o

just placed an order for 2...i can understand why they are so popular..sex in case form.

Yeah the screws were a pain the rear for me. I'm used to this type of screw with RC cars, which also have a problem with aluminium reacting to create too tight a bond. In that situation I've always changed the screws for titanium hex head ones, not cheap but on an RC car every gram counts. I think for this case I'll just get some steel ones, you want M3 x6, they seem reasonably cheap *competitor*. Only problem is they'll be silver on my black case. I could get some aluminium ones from RC shops that would be anodized black but then aluminium is soft and could strip again.

The PC-V300 will be my new case as well.
Gonna hack it up to fit a dual radiator for water cooling.
And since I will hack it up anyway, the NVidia 7900GTX will fit nicely too :-)
