Hi,

I am looking at getting system below. Can i use the PC-V600 or is it not recommended ?

Intel Core 2 DUO LGA775 E6300 1.86GHz Retail / Gigabyte 965P DS3 / 1GB GeIL PC2-6400C4 Dual Channel Kit - Bundle
BFG GeForce 7950 GT OC 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail
Enermax Liberty 500W ELT500AWT ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU

Thanks

Get it :)

Brilliant little cases with the right cooling set up, I would suggest getting the Blue Orb 2 or Zalman CNPS8000 cooler. Also the Powercolor 512mb 1950pro rather than the 7950gt.

Thanks, I like the Zalman coolers as i already have a 7700 on my P4 northwood is the CNPS8000 recommended to work with the core 2 ?

Because of the PSU layout you need a low profile cooler for the CPU. Luckily, even overclocked Core2Duo's don't need a huge amount of cooling so pretty much any low profile cooler will do. I personally use the Thermaltake Blue Orb but even the stock Intel HSF does a good job. The Zalman will also be fine. You may be able to get a converter plate to let you use the 7700 on the Core2Duo. The PSU fan setup is also quite important in this case so make sure you get a good PSU with at least a 120mm fan and preferably one with an 120mm and an 80mm to really move some air through it. The Enermax should be fine.

Unless you have some special reason for wanting the 7950 then I'm with Raikiri on the 1950 Pro suggestion. It will crush any NVidia card short of a 7900GTO/X and with the pricing at the moment it's a bargain.

I have a very similar setup in my V600: E6300, GA965P-S3, 7700ALCU, 7600GS, Liberty 400W. It runs slightly warmer than my E6400 in a PC60 case but I haven't finished fiddling with it yet - a new front fan is on my next OcUK order.

Have you tried turning off the front fan completely? And set the top fan to extract. Very odd, but it seems to work.

The top fan extracts by default but I've set it to 5V and it doesn't seem to be doing a lot. The PSU is turned away from the HSF so isn't contributing to the airflow and I'd be a bit worried about not having any air forced towards the HSF. I might give it a try though the next time I have the case open. I'm about to order some more RAM for it so it could be this weekend.

I've got my PSU fan extracting as well. It seems to pull air from all over the case. I've ordered one of the drilled front plates to see what that looks like. I'm hoping it will look good!

i'm having trouble finding the PC600B in black anywhere ? . Any one know why Overclockers don't stock this case

they went selling enough so stopped and use froogle (is this allowed as u dont sell it change if needed)

I've just got one, and it was a devil of a job finding it. Quite a few etailers have them but are out of stock. Found one who had one left, so I nabbed it. Then I went on a popular auction site and found another, so I grabbed that as well! So I've got 2 now! MUHAHAHAHA! They're nice little cases, but not as small as I thought they were. :D

They're plentiful if you know where to look! The big UK distributor is showing over 300 in stock, so don't worry about them running out

I've got a black 600 in the MM :)

And it's excellent value too! If it's been anything like as well cared for as the TJ-08 I bought from you, it'll be perfect.

I am looking at the same case - and an Enermax too. Would the noisetaker - with it's two fans be less useful - or is Liberty more appropriate?

The more airflow through the PSU the better as, if you have the PSU oriented into the case, it draws air out of the case like an extra extraction fan.

Excellent

Liberty and 600 ordered... Silver for me. I am gonna get some perforated bezles (as on the A16 now available in the UK) to replace the standard ones.

Not that I am an apple fanboy and i am pretending i have a ghetto PowerMac at all...

Wouldn't work on mine as the screw holes didn't remotely line up with the Seasonic S12 430W, so had to have it with fan facing out. :(

Fit the plate onto the PSU however it fits, then slide it in whatever way you like - the screwholes on the case don't care what way up the plate is.

I'm sorry, but that's just so funny. It's nearly as funny as when I tried to fit the front stealth plates to mine. I didn't realise how they slid in, so I lined them up with the wrong holes. Those obviously didn't fit so I drilled out the stealth plates to match the case and bolted them in place with the bolts in the pack.

I then complained on here about how the stealth plates didn't match up - the whole 9 yards.

When someone showed me another V-series with the plates fitted correctly I must have gone 17 different shades of red!
