Hi all,

Planning to build my first rig soon and was thinking about using a Lian Li V1000plus case with a Tagan TG580-U15 580W ATX2.01 Easycon SLi Compliant Modular Silent PSU (CA-009-TG).

I've noticed the V1000+ has an upside down configuration with a distinct PSU compartment. The Tagan also has a 120mm fan adjacent to the rear grill rather than a smaller fan on the opposite face. It is also modular. Can anyone foresee any problems I might have using these two together?

Thanks for your help.

Was there something you didn't like about the fans that came supplied?

What does the readout on the TR3A tell you?

I hope mine looks that nice when I've finished bodging it all together!

I'm sure this is a silly question, but is voltage something I need to decide upon for my fans? I just thought they plug in and revolve!

I see.

A bit of a change of topic, but do you have a special set of tools you use when you build PCs?

I have one or two screwdrivers around the house, but they're a bit log really.

I noticed Victorinox make a special 'techy' swiss army knife:

The Cybertool

I don't have anything that small, although I'm sure I'd find a way to set dip switches without resorting to their 'pressurised ballpoint pen'

I think I want to get some rounded IDE, SATA2 and floppy cables to improve airflow in my V1000+ when I get it. Do you know what lengths I will need for this case?

The IDE is for optical drive(s), the SATA for HD.

Yewen, I just read your review of the Lian Li V1000+ on your case central website. Just out of interest, why did you have the power button rebrushed? and what exactly does that entail?

Nope, never had to use it in the years I had them.

If you ever did need to, hold the power button in, then turn back on, does the same thing but takes around 5 seconds longer to do. :)

Lol, I think I can spare 5 seconds!

Saw a post from someone here that they ordered the V1000+ from Ocuk and received the +2 version. Have you had any experience with this variant? An extra fan can't be a bad thing, although it does ruin the nice minimalist aluminium look a bit.

Only seen one, same as the +I but instead of a blower fan has the side mounted blowhole over the graphics.

Works a little better than the blower, does not really matter which you get. :)

So would a blower fan be just a fan mounted inside the case, and a blowhole, the same thing mounted on a hole in the side? Their pictures aren't that detailed.

Are they 120mm blowers? Same as the inlet and exhaust fans?

Quite hard to grasp if you had no idea what one was!

That fan is what comes with the +I, the +II has the mounting bracket for a normal fan, and the holes in the side to let the air out. :)

Ok. I think I've got it!

So the 1000+ has 2 case fans (front/back) and a blower fan (inside)
The V1000+2 just has 2 case fans (front/side-hole)

Is that right? lol
