Lidl Bike Gear Sale

I'm half tempted by a lid, for car track use, but to be honest I think I'd rather get a proper one, even if it does cost a lot more. Especially as I wouldn't look as much of a tit flipping the visor open instead of the whole face. :p

Certainly not tempted with a helmet but I'll probably buy some smaller stuff.

Good point on the Jacket being triple stitched - might put the money saved towards something a bit more beefy

Anyone get anything?

I got:

2x First aid kits
1x Thermal top
1x Thermal bottom
1x Tank bag
1x Gloves
1x Rain cover
1x Kidney belt

£70 isn't bad for that lot

The tank bags are good for the money imo. Last year they had back protectors too, they were great too (well better than nothing!) and they also had some really tiny tank bags for £2.99, they were awesome too. I'm not so sure about the helmets but everything else has been great quality for the price.

Keep an eye on Aldi, chances are they'll do something similar quite soon too :)

Yeah the bag is really decent quality. The long sleeve top absolutely stank when I got it out the box - that went straight into the washing machine! It looked fairly snug even for a large too.

Gotta love Lidl deals. They also had 4litres of 15w40 oil for £10.99 in my store.

Got me a tankbag and a cover (dont need a cover but i'll be doing a lot of rallies over summer and it might come in as a handy makeshift tent or something when mine gets set on fire :D).

considered the kidney belt but i'm too poor atm

A mate of mine bought a £25 helmet from lidl and just a week later managed to drive 40 mph face first into the back of a bus (bus pulled across 2 lanes form a bus stop so it was drivers fault) and although a bit of the paint had chipped off the helmet his head and face were alright.

Broken wrist though, and if he hadn't have been launched into it, the scooter would have cut him in half.

Still, I'd rather keep my Shoei thanks very much!

The waterproofs are decent enough if you aren't doing quick speeds and require anti gravel rash material.

I'd like to see what quality the gloves are, is the little finger attached to its friend? Is there suede or wtf on the palm etc?

EDIT: Oh, I suppose I could have just looked at the site again! Still, I think mine only cost 40 ish quid, so not so much of a difference.

If you look on the photo the material part is 100% polyester and the rest is 100% polyamide. The material is quite soft and covers your head and round the face. The rest looks waterproof and goes round the neck

I had a look at the helmets yesterday. The flipfront is a copy of the Shoei, so will fit anyone with a narrow head. It rang like a pudding bowl if you tapped it though, so I'd expect it's pretty noisy when you ride with it on. The open face one was for people with rounder heads by the look of it. Same sort of quality.

Went to there today and got the following:

Waterproof/wind proof Jacket - Looks quite good tbh. Fits well and has plenty of sealed pockets. Not too bulky. Better than the £150.00 moto-x jacket I normally wear. Strong seams, good zip and a handy flap that goes around the chin and covers the upper chest.

Kidney Belt - Does what it says on the tin though the wife did ask why do I need a corset :p

First Aid Kit - Again as it is, handy and compact, zipped bag etc

UCOM Twin talker wireless intercom system. Quite impressed with this for £24 odd. Fits well in my lid and sounds and works A1

Tronic Hands free/Rider-Pillion intercom - Basic intercom for Rider and Pillion with audio in for mobile phone. Seems to work okay though the wires are very thin and the headsets are tricky to keep on when putting my lid on. Sound quality not bad - overall not too bad for £7 odd. worth a look I guess

Overall, pretty pleased with my little haul. Jacket and wireless coms well worth the money.
