"Life" with Playstation

You don't know a lot about the ps3 do you ? Do you have one ?

The friends list has been increased to 100 ( feature that was wanted ) and in game xmb ( cross game invites, friends list access and more ) along with custom soundtracks are a only a few weeks away with 2.4.

And this new feature along with the movie download service and home easily surpasses the 360 feature list ........... and its free.

It is becoming a lot easier to spot the bitter 360 fanboys these days ...... I love the fact I have all the consoles and especially happy to be a ps3 owner at this time as all the promise starts to be delivered.

Yeah I have one in my house at the moment (its my housemates) It just seems like these features are taking too long. People have been asking for in game XMB and custom soundtracks for a very long time. Perhaps if they focussed on a few improvements, got them out of the door and then looked at new ones then it would be more efficient? Of course I love how you just call me a fanboy just because I've said something negative

I probably wont use it much but its something that others may find useful, its a nice idea and any thing extra free is always good.

Id rather they just focussed on the stuff people actually want.

Firmware 2.4 (out in a few weeks)
includes Trophy support, ingame messaging, ingame xmb giving you access to

Friend category

View, send, receive messages

Manage downloads

Set the vibration feature of the controller

Sign in to PlayStation Network

Register friends

Manage Bluetooth devices

Terminate the game

Music category

Use the system BGM

Work the system BGM operation panel

Settings category

Assign controllers

View profiles

Game category

Set audio devices

Use the voice changer

So with in game xmb, trophy support, in game messaging and a clan system on its way what else do people want (apart from obvious ones eg price cut)?

Wow, how useless.

yea, because world news is useless. There is a market for this sort of thing. I could see myself checking out news from different parts of the world.

Well how about playing custom music in games? surely thats wanted by more people than this :(

Would be pretty cool for games like Metal Gear Solid 4 and GTA4 but didn't microsoft copyright custom ingame music?

The only reason ingame XMB is taking so long is because of resources. When playing a game, it takes up most of the PS3 resources, the XMB is a resource hog. I guess they're trying to make it so ingame XMB doesn't kill your PS3. I don't really care for ingame XMB, all I want is to be able to read msgs and see my friends list while playing a game.

Your housemates ? so you don't own one?

And how can you be negative about a free feature when your argument about the ' much needed ' features is flawed, these features are just around the corner.

Wonder what the 360 fanboys will cry about when psn surpasses live within the next few weeks ...... all this for free.

For gods sake I know these things are coming, I'm not stupid. Im just saying that if they had focussed on say 1 or two improvements (in game XMB and music being the main ones imo) then they could have got them out 6 months ago. Obviously I'm happy that its getting new features but prioritized development would be far better imo.

I play one one regularly, do I have to own it or are you just being stupid now?

And stop throwing the word fanboy around:

A fanboy is someone who cannot see the deficiencies in their object of adoration, a fanboy is someone who rants and raves when the object of their adoration is questioned. So in fact you are the fanboy as you are automatically assuming I have 'no idea what i'm talking about' and am a 'bitter 360 fanboy' just because I didn't bow down and agree that Sony are godlike and deserve only praise and adoration

And you know what? I didn't even mention the 360, you did.

Neither did I ..... just seems stupid to moan about a free application and then use an excuse about ' priority features ' being missing when they are coming in the next few weeks.

Especially when this feature won't be out until after in game xmb and custom soundtracks.

This is what the Wii has, but with better graphics then, yes?

Personally I used the Wii channels maybe once or twice when they first appeared, however your never likely to turn your console on purely to look at them though, and chances are you wouldn't any other time (like when playing a game or movie) either.

No complaints about free stuff, but they are a little pointless.

Love how you just ignored the rest of my post.

Its not an 'excuse' You do realise that that they don't just announce these features, then make and release them in a couple of weeks? SO this feature has been in development for a period of time, including analysis of the market and stuff like that. And if you have more projects on the go with the same amount of resources then the time taken to delivery will also go up? So my point is that if they focussed on less features initially they could get them out of the door quicker. My point is not an 'excuse' it's a valid one. if Sony announced one hundred new free features tomorrow that were all great but cause home or in-game XMB to be delayed by a year or so would you be happy? I doubt it.

I have had a ps3 since release and been happy with it since day one and that was without in game xmb or Home and both of those have been delayed many times.

a lot of these essential features ( in game xmb, custom soundtracks ) are demands 360 owners have made before they would consider buying a ps3 ... for those of us who bought one already we were happy with the machine already.

These new features are just a bonus.

And I didn't ignore the rest of your post ....I just quoted the bit I wanted to quote, I read all of it.

Well I would have thought that considering the 360 was released first and is the cheaper of the two, that people would want the PS3 to match the functionality of the 360 as soon as possible? Especially as there is no technical reason why it can't.
