Lifetime of a PSU

I got a Qtec Gold 450Watt PSU that I grabbed from my mothers old PC.

I bought that when I had my Cyrix 333 in my old Flat, and I moved in here 13 years ago, so thats fairly old.

I checked the PSU out on my tester and its still giving me a near perfect output on all lines.

I dont think its going to fail any time soon.

And its a bloody QTEC !!!

How did you test it, with it running a PC at load or just unconnected with a paperclip to turn it on?

Edit are you using a multimeter or a PSU tester like.

The PSU tester won't show up a poor PSU, they'll just show if it's working or not.

Was thinking about changing my PSU when I upgrade my graphics card, think my Coolermaster Silent Pro 700W Modular is about 4 years old now. It's got a bit battered externally over the years but never had a problem with it powering anything so not sure whether to change it or not? I've had it apart a couple times to clean it out etc, more than happy to do it again just looks a little unsightly since it's scratched. :)
