  Light bulb tax: New levy on energy-wasting appliances could mean £50 tax on cheap washing machines, dishwashers and tumble-dryers. New £1.50 tax on old-fashioned light bulbs to halve the price gap with energy-saving ones. Total extra cost £56. (Based on an average of one new appliance a year plus four light bulbs.)

Just buy energy saving light bulbs, simple. Saying that, they don't work with dimmer switches, and I have two dimmers in my room.

I hate the light energy-saving bulbs give off... just a really nasty white light.

My desk lamp gives a lovely soft yellow glow... illuminates my room perfectly.

i suspect this will be traced down to either an urban myth, or an old Daily Mail (or similar) article about some change in the system to encourage energy efficiency that has already taken place.

The lighbulb tax for example is almost certainly rubbish (or based on some hugely expensive bulb where it represents a couple of percent of the cost), as it would be a tax of about 600% of the cost of many bulbs.

Energy saving bulb + amber stagecraft lighting gel = soft light AND energy savings!! ;)

Toilet tax will be here next. A set of scales down the pan to weigh output then you get charged on the weight £1 a lb :o

It really wouldn't suprise me.

There are always taxes in discussion but most never get through like internet tax, though we will probably see that in the future..

Well look at my posts inthe past , i posted a new type of council tax, i posted new local motor tax, rubbish tax, travel tax and its all made national headlines. Anyway theirs a few other taxes coming out, what ever you think this will be out, and i 'll tell you why theirs more taxs on the way because they will plan to reduce the corporate tax.
In order to save enegy they could alter the gmt by forwarding the clock not reversing the clock in winter.
