Hi guys, I'm new here.

I'm going to purchased 800D soon, this is my first case with window so I want to put some light on it. However I dont know which is the best option : cathode or LED ? what is the pro and cons ?

Also, I am looking for a light controller panel, so I can turn off or dim the light whenever I want. I have been looking for it for a while, but can not find anything. How you guy deal with this ?

I have heard of SunBeam chameleon, however it discontinued. Is there anything similar to this ? I really like its idea of changing the light color whenever you like.

Hi and welcome :)

Great case choice, i have one myself ;) I would say cold cathode tubes are better as they give a more solid light from the tube. If you go for led's they tend to be patchy and spotlight affect.

Most cathode tubes either come with a switch to turn them off, but unsure about dimming.

As for wanting to change to change the colour pah :p There isnt a lot of places to put tubes in the Corsair. SO at the top you have space for three 120mm fans. Get some decent led fans in there and it looks great. I did have green, but i am changing to red :D

Thank Damo :)

I know that cathode have a switch, but does that mean everytime I want to swith it off I have to open my case ? Is there any other easier way of doing this ?

Uhm.. if there is no other way then I may have to look at the fan controller panel and change it to do light turn on/off as well, should not be too hard.

I am thinking of getting a dark blue light at the bottom of my case (I always love sport car with moded light like this :D it look like it is floating). And may be a warm color for the main body. Have not decided yet.

Well some of the cathode tubes i have got include a pci blanking plate with a switch in it. Yes it takes up a pci slot but it looks quite smart. SO you can switch it on and off easily.

TBH its quite hard to light up the corsair 800D due to the way everthing is laid out. I will link you to some of my pics of my corsair with green lighting. I am changing to red now anyway's maybe with a touch of blue. But mainly just red :D

LOL - Nah i want red. Red looks evil :D
Definitely!
And from colours red is least "blinding" because cells responsible for scotopic vision are basically blind to those wavelengths.
That's why red lights are used lot by military and also possibly in emergency lightning in some places.

Thank Damo :)

It's quite easy to mount the switches on the rear of the case, some even come with a PCI bracket included in the kit. other wise you can use the very simple fan-mate controllers to dim them, just make sure you wire them into the low tension side of the circuit.
