Hi All,

All my house lights and plug sockets are controlled via samsung smart things hub. With hue lights etc so all on motion sensors.

The problem is th kitchen currently has 6 gu10 LED bulbs in the ceiling connected to a simple light switch and I want to automate these as well. The issue is I either replaced all gu10 bulbs with Philips at £40 each or osram lightify at £25 each and that's just pretty expensive.

I have found a number of connected light switches but nearly all but one say they need the neutral wire as well and as I have a UK home I only have the 2 wires in the socket with no neutral. Would it be possible for an electrician to add a neutral to the light socket or are we talking a rewire of the whole house needed?

just need to get a sparks to run a new cable to switch, if they can pull down exsisting tube(if one) then it wont be an expensive job, if there's a loft above kitchen itl be easy but if you have a floor/room above it will prob be a little more complex.
definitely wont need a full rewire for it.

If the "all but one" is the Fibaro dimmer, they are nice units, I have a bunch.

(I'm not familiar with Smart Things, I have a RaZberry set up for Z-Wave)

Here's one being wired in using 2-wire:

tut tut no brown sleeving on the switched live! or even more importantly there is NO earth link to the METAL plate.

Yeh thats the one uchuff that site got back to me and it can be installed in a two wire install. Electricians I phoned could not even be bothered to call me back so went with it and will install it next week. Thanks for the help all.

Find out where the three plate wiring for the lights is, (probably in a joint box near to the fitting closest the switch) Find an enclosure that the control unit will fit in and will pass through the downlight hole and put it there. Else cut a single dry liner into the ceiling and blank plate it and put it there
