Hi,

I have never used Light Room and never room but this is a question from my father.

When he is uploading pictures into Light Room, he says his pc is using like 13gb of his 16gb of RAM, meaning he can’t do anything else at that time.

If we increased the RAM to 32gb would he be able to use other programmes at the same time or would Light Room just use more RAM to make things go quicker ?

From what i gather its only when he is uploading images.

I do know after reading now there could be a memory leak. So i’ll tell him to restart the progamme every 90mins or so.

But that won’t stop his issue with uploading

It's not a RAM issue.

Has he got an SSD or a mechanical drive?

If it's a mechanical drive it's the writing to it that's bringing the system to a crawl.

If it's an SSD then it's likely the CPU usage being maxed as LR generates previews of the uploading files.

Open performance tab of task manager and you'll be able to see what's bottlenecking.

Edit:

It's already been sorted in your other thread.
