Hopefully this isn't construed as being a competitors site - they only sell these things - I found them for under half the price on the bay.

Admins please feel free to remove if it breaches forum rules - altho I don't think it will.

they fold up small and come with 4 background cloths. Thought it was a great idea

Thats what i use. Folding them up is a pain though and they can spring open damn quickly.
The ones off ebay, the coloured linings are like a weird plastic. I bought some black cotton sheet to replace the black one. Going to get some coloured card now to replace the blue, red and white backgrounds.

Just looked light tents up on the bay, 80cm can be had for < £15 incl delivery.

I considered but don't think I would use it that much.

Nice - that's a good call that - I ordered one myself off the bay. They seemed like a good idea - especially since the missus wouldn't like it if I left it up all the time :D

thats about what i paid.
Bought mine since its going to earn me some pennies to support my "D80" addiction.

This looks really cool, exaclty what I've been looking for! :)

Very tempted to buy one.

Well it arrived - nice and fast - £15 off the bay. LOL it's much bigger in the flesh and I see what you mean about being hard to fold up. Sucker popped open and nearly took my nose with it.

I also see what you mean about the background cloths - I think I'll need to iron them before they will be of any use... now I need to head down to Argos or a lighting shop to get some lamps for lighting.

All in all a really nice quality product and nicely packaged as well. I'll have a play once I get some lamps and see what I can come up with as first photos.

If your going to iron them, suggest you use a very damp tea towel over the top, even then i struggled to get any creases out, hence buying some black material and some white card.

Lights wise, i use 2 angle poise lamps with these bulbs . Gives plenty of light.

Many Thanks

Exactly what he said. There are stack of them on there.

I looked at them before but with no feedback as to how good they were i left it. So I bought one a little while ago I paid £15.98 because I didnt look around, I was happy to pay that but if you look it goes as low as £13~

You can get a couple/three table lights and put some tungsten ballenced (sp?) lamps in and your off!

Troo - I will head down to Argos after work to pick up some budget angle lamps. Kinda figured that I'd have to be careful not to melt the BG cloth, I'd rather not be scraping them off the back of my iron.

As an aside, I'm really impressed with the power saving bulbs - the light is just the same, and the only downer is that they take a short time to warm up. Previously I was having a normal bulb give up the ghost every couple of months - now I will get aound 8 years out of them and they used 1/5th the wattage - awesome.

Did you find any thing to put these beasts in? I just looked online and they dont really have any thing suitable.

Nah - a little bit stumped actually - I have to broaden my search a little and find a couple of angle lamps... I'm sure they aren't all that hard to find.

Ive seen some but they are screw type me being me I though Ill get bayonet because every thing takes them, not realising that angle lamps only take screw type bulbs. I am trying out just using them in normal table lights see how well it works with some reflectors and stuff. However I may have to send them back for screw type ones under the distance selling regulations.

troo - let me know how it goes - I'm assuming you would want lamps with a fairly large 'hood' to get a good distribution of light.

Edit: something like a couple of these

Just spent the last few hours playing, Heres the results, I did notice that there was an issue with the background not being evenly lit in places however its good enough for a few hours playing.

C+C Welcomed!!!

They do seem to be a bit blown out - the lighting is nice and even but a bit overbearing. The subject matter is a little ho-hum but I'm not going to say too much more until I actually do some myself just in case :D
