Well we had some matches today (to light candles on a friend's birthday cake)and were bored in the common room.

Someone (aka me) thought it'd be fun to see if you really can light a match off stubble. I'd had a shave last night, and it was around 1:30, so i had some fairly hard stubble. I failed miserably at lighting the match, no matter how hard i tried.

I'm not sure if it was due to the lack of manliness of my stubble- because it's fairly manly, for a 17 year old- or whether it was due to the softness of my skin.

Has anyone else sucessfully light a latch off their face/ neck stubble? if so, any tips, or indeed anecdotes? :p

So are cook's matches safety matches? They did have a brown tip, came in a cream box, i can't remember the name of the brand, but it's a common one.

I don't really feel like putting pictures of myself on here, you'll laugh at my teenage spots :p

say I have downy teenage hair if you like, I know that isn't the case.

edit: okay I might take a pic, if you're lucky.

i'm full-on ginger, i don't just have a ginger beard.

I've lit a match on my own fly.

Felt pretty manly at the time!

I've heard tales of people attempting to light their farts, and setting their pubes on fire. I'd be way too nervous to go anywhere near that area with a light match :p
