but i would like to light the display because the pop! vinyl further back in the unit cannot be displayed..
i know ikea do there own lighting but its like £60 i think to fill the 8 cubes currently full.

so is there anything else i can use, that isnt mega expensive to light up the unit?

Get some 50:50 led tape from Amazon or eBay (£6) a power transformer again amazon or eBay (£7) nd solder some wires to it yourself, add some flex and a plug and boom your done.

As above use LED strips from ebay, it'll do the job, however, you really they would need mounting underneath the shelf at the front so they will be visible.

You may be better getting some wood, building small strips to run along the shelf fronts and then mount the LED strips to the back of those so the lights themselves can't be seen and all light is projected into the unit. Painting the wood is should match the units themselves.

Other options would be coloured strips of perspex etc.
