So after i started a console war thread 
this should be a little easier.
I said in the last thread that ive got media centre running sweet etc. I do, but it was over wireless and its a pain cos it keeps skipping and dropping out (because the router is in another room and cant be moved)
Managed to connect it via a cable for the time being for when i use mediacentre.
However, i have a Netgear GS605 gigabit switch.
issue is, its not assigning ip's - not sure its meant to ? should it have a router attached to it first? And when i connect the xbox to it the light stays orange - ive checked on netgear site but no luck
Anyone had any experience with this switch at all?
