Dont know, but for even mentioning Limewire on here you're probably gonna get a kick up the bum!
Yeah sorry ,just looked at the rules scrub that post ! and for what its worth its pants ! :(

Pfft, it's torrent, says it all really. Only the ill informed or the people who don't give a crap about getting caught use torrent.

bittorrent has legal uses you know, not so sure about limewire

Its what you share that counts

well if it is not copywrited (written) then yes, i believe the bloke who invented bt has signed up with some corp to leverage the technology.

I seem to remember reading that ntl of all companies was doing a bittorrent experiment, probably was april fools day.

But if you want to legally share large files, you could drm them, allow them to be shared and only give people who had paid the key, or you could have several servers all around the world each providing parts of the download and hence spreading bandwidth load.

You can share anything if you have the copywrite owners permission or you own the copywrite.

Sort of off topic, but does that mean e.g. classical music can be legally shared? Nobody surely owns the copywrite to it now?
Very good point ! here here ! Anyway how can they really police file sharing ? its the way music and films will go , and i remember in the 70's we use to tape music from records onto tape ,was that wrong too i ask ?? strange how things have gone into the nanny state ! but as you mentioned its what you download that is the problem,NOT the downloading of files i believe ..sorry ranting alittle !

Jamjar, unless your using a proxy server then it's pretty easy to police Torrent as your IP is logged. If the FBI or anyone else raids the servers, they can find out what your IP is and exactly what you downloaded, not to mention the fact that anyone can easily find out your IP.

Im nearly sure i saw the Limewire acceleration patch as spyware on that site that lists all programs with spyware in.

You can pretty much guarantee that all these torrent programs contain some sort of spyware.

EDIT: There was a site that told you exactly what each program had in regards to spyware.

oh yes all these progragrams are full of spyware and viruses and the people that use them are all terrorists and drug dealers --- probably :p

I wonder if this thread is acceptable, i hope it gets closed soon, is anybody watching

Oh the hilarity, I'm laughing that much I can't contain myself.

Sorry i started this post ! me and my big mouth ,i only used limewire once honest officer ha ha !!

I think if people realised what they were getting themselves into using torrent, they wouldn't bother.

What do you mean getting themselves into using torrent???

As has been mentioned bittorent can be used as a legal method to share files + i have DLed plenty of legal videos/shareware through bittorrent.

Lamewire is of course a load of poo and nobody should ever use it unless you want viruses and spyware a go go and i wouldnt class it as torrent software per say as it still uses centralised servers :p .

Oh and closing point you can use the I2p anonymous network so no ip is available + Bittorrent doesnt use a centralised server (thats the reason its good) and you can encrypt the data your sending so its a pita to read :D
