Limit to 1.5 gb/s Operation??

ive just recieved my 250gb seagate 16mb hard drive, and at the back, its got a jumper to limit the drive to 1.5gb/s operation, whatever that means. If i take away the jumper I get 3 gbs. Surely that will be better?

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the 3gb/s speed only comes in at certain points in a program/Windows??

Yes it will. Take the jumper off, but only if your motherboard supports SATA2 3gb. If it doesn't then leave it on.

Your board supports it so might as well take it off but you won't notice any difference.

well, I've a NF7-sV2 that works fine with these drives without the jumper, so I think the controler should auto it.

only take it off if your board/controller suports sata 2 ( 3gb ). where i work we have had a lot of problems with sata2 drives in a sata 1 enviroment. seagate ellected to have a jumper on their drives as default.
