Limited resolution options

I installed 2 games today, Transformers and Overlord, and both wont let me up the res beyond 1024x768

My monitor is capable of 1280x1024, and my gfx card is a X1800XT

Any ideas what could be causing this?

I can't even find a ini/config file to hardcode the res into

i had a similar problem, there's an option in CCC in monitor/display panels (iirc) for auto detecting resolution for your monitor, it could be unchecked.
