You should have a nice short line, but it could be extremely long, you just cannot tell.

if im 2.8km from the exchange would i get a 2meg line then, ive done a check on bt postcode checker its saying i only can get speeds upto 1meg, but how accurate is the postcode checker

It isn't accurate at all, and a distance from Samknows is equally meaningless.

my router is saying my Attenuation is 63 dB, and i have a 2meg line

I'm running a Netgear DG632 modem/router, I'm assuming the statistics should be obtainable from within the router settings page?
I've had a quick shufti through it and cannot see any blaringly obvious stats?

I've never used a DG632, but on the DG834 you can find the stats by going to 'Router Status' and clicking the 'Show Stats' button.

"Show Stats" just gives me the uptime and packet info, having searched all the way through it I can't seem to see anything

Sounds like they're not there to be found then. A firmware update may help though.

I hope MAX allows some more.

samknows says i'm approximately 3.24km from the exchange.

Under current BTw rules, you'd get 1Mbps too...
Would expect about 4Mbps under IPStream Max.

Thats what i thought

But BT Checker says 512kbps only and my ISP says "Computer says you carn't get 1mbps" when i asked a year or so back and they upgraded everyone on the same tarrif as me to 2mbps if they can get it

You won't get 2Mbps under current rules, but all it needs is Demon to be bothered getting the database updated for 1Mbps.
A bit academic with IPStream Max on the way though.

if you have a bad line and you should be able to get 2meg can you get bt to fix it all and would it cost a lot

Yeh i think your right, i think i will just look into changing ISPs when MAX goes live for higher speeds (I hope!)

My girlfriend's line:

You are approximately 398 metres from the exchange (straight line distance).

Wonadoo said that max she could get was 512Kb line :confused:

She's in the process of changing to Demon though
