Just bought a new gaming PC. Had it for 5-7 days. System has not been overclocked at all.

When i play games i get straight lines going acorss my screen and going up and down. Only ever happens when im in the game, on the menu screen its fine. Ive enabled V-synch and it has done nothing.

The graphics card i have got is GTX 580, ive tried two monitors and the same problem.

I have tried different drivers and this hasnt solved the problem.

Sounds Like a faulty card, Have a go at running Furmark which will stress the gpu and you can monitor temps.

Its called screen tearing (google it)

It happens when your GC is throwing out more frames than your monitor can handle. Graphics fps vs monitors Hz

Everyone gets it, and the only way to get rid of it is to turn on vsync, but turning on vsync lowers your input time so the mouse and keyboard will seem slightly laggy (not good for fps games)

Seriously dude i hated it when i 1st noticed but, but you do get used to it.

Im not sure if this makes a difference, but the new 3d monitors are 120Hz which is double what normal lcd screens have. This should lower tearing quit a bit. But again im not sure without googling it

It isnt screen tearing im getting sadly, i wish it was because then i know what the problem is. I doesnt cut the image at all.

Its loads of moving lines going up and down my monitor. And it also gives a grainy look to my screen.
