Lines on screen.

my brothers pc always displays lines on its monitor. Its the same on two monitors! there are like loads of moving lines that you can like almost always see. I have tried changing the refresh rate but that didnt make a difference.

hes got a 8600 GT

amd athlon 64 X2 2.2

2 gig ram DDR

Might help if mentioned what kind of monitor...

If its a crt it could be interference, see if it's worse while your mobile is on next to it

its an LCD monitor @ 1400x900 res

When my windows first installs it's like that until I install video and monitor drivers. But if the machine's in use they must already be in place so that can't be it.


Does giving the VGA cable a bloody good rattle have any effect whatsoever?

hmmm i guess i was using the same VGA cable - could be the cable i guess?

Do these lines slowly rotate or are they fixed horizontal/vertical? I used to get lines on an old tft, turned out it was high emf coming from an old wall socket.

they are all vertical and i have tested it in diferent places
