LinkedIn

I use Linkedin now and again to check out old work colleagues I used to work with to find out how much they have padded out their C.V with fake junk for a chuckle now and again.

The world of LinkedIn is a work of villainy and fiction! Be it marketing, gaslighting or resumes..

Or in the games industry, a never ending roll call of redundancies. New studios laying people off every week, everything must go! It's pretty depressing so I try not to check it much at the moment.

I binned my LinkedIn account within a month of joining Apple’s HW team after the hundredth person asking what the new iPhone was going to be like and/or what discount I could get them on a new Mac.

"I work for Apple, but don't want to say I work for Apple."

Are you a genuine hire (there are a few in Ireland etc) or just snorting your own bottom and pretending? They're still pushing the lies about in house tech support last I checked, despite using dodgy companies like Teleperformance and another one or two in places like Turkey that use their "award winning" (self awarded) support platform?

I feel bad for the poor sods that buy into it because shy of being hired directly by Apple they're learning a lot of nonsense that frankly isn't transferable but might look good on paper. Yes, they absolutely have that sort of thing with their joker platform that requires an NDA but leads nowhere for those who invest in it if they have issues with the third party involved, or worse Apple pulls the plug on the company involved?

LinkedIn has turned into a toilet, it's terrible.

It's like Facebook now. Women having to post a selfie when they post and mostly just spam posts.

It used ot be amazing for job finding.

Two things that destroyed it:

The pursuit of views as an indicator of value. This pushed the demand for posters to maximise 'engagement' with **** posts and comments as a measure.

The use of AI to automate the maximising engagement through automatically finding and then re-posting **** posts as a cognitive warfare mechanism. You'll note that there's a bias towards popular optioning (ie 'influencers' that drowns out actually interesting posts) resulting in the same control mechanism that TikTok cultivated, that Facebook transitioned towards and now is destroying Linkedin.

Has the commercial world died yet? Because this seems to be attempting to under cut the free market.

100%. I also see the same drivel over and over, all these inspirational and leadership posts from nobodies which hold very little truth in the real world. Also I see the same posts on the same subject and no matter how many times I use the 'not interested' feature, they come back. And they're doing the same app trick Instagram and Facebook do where they make it very hard to clear notifications.

I only use LinkedIn when I'm looking for work. Apart from one, my last 6 jobs came from LinkedIn.

I just ignore it the Facebook style nonsense but the platform is still useful compared to going to the job center!

This^^

Just cracks me up... Someone I know now calls themselves

Number 1 Best selling author / Business Owner on Linkedin.

He wrote a very basic book that is on a niche subject which on Amazon only has 2 books in the whole category, his happened to sell a few copies and therefore he claims "number 1 best selling author" on his Linkedin..

Comes out with all the nonsense leadership stuff all the time. It's comical....
