LinkSys Router comparison...

I am aware that the LinkSys WRT54GL is considered to be one of the better routers.
I see that the LinkSys WRT54G2 has been described as the next step up from the 54GL.
I am 'in the market' for a router, and I am not sure which one to go for (I do not think that the G2 can utilise Tomato).
Any thoughts?

the G is unable to run tomato etc so not really worth it!

Does the Tomato firmware really make so much of a difference? (I only ask because I'm not familiar with routers etc).

It's not so much Tomato itself as the option of installing third-party firmware that'll add all sorts of features the Linksys firmware doesn't have (and is generally more stable into the bargain).
