Hi,

I just purchased a 'Linksys WRT54GL 54Mbps Open Source Wireless Cable Router' from Overclockers, went through the instructions on the CD on how to connect cables, then when a progress bar begins saying something like "checking computer configurations" - it freezes at 99%.

It's happened twice now and crashed my laptop completely both times - do you think it's a problem with my laptop or the router or something else?

Any replies greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Edit: Sorry the title is useless, I didn't finish it then clicked submit before going back to it. Hopefully mods will change if necessary

Is it a VISTA laptop? this issue occurs for most config cds even if they say Vista compatible.

Solution?

Throw the CD in the bin.

Plug in the CAT5 cable to your pc and one to the router, browse to 192.168.1.1 and login with the default admin credentials.

Configure the router how you like then all is well.

Same thing happened to me on XP with a netgear one. i just installed all the drivers manually and did as mrk said, far easier
