Linux - First time user.

Just creating a bootable USB stick with a free partition manager to partition my C drive to create a dual boot system.

Whats the best dist of linux to use for a new person, but not so easy that I do not learn anything?

Ubuntu.

Ubuntu (+ Automatix to install the add-ons).

Though be prepared to refer to the excellent Ubuntu forums/online-help.
Also the beta of 6.10 (full release at end of month) is even better that the current 6.06.

As an alternative SUSE 10.1 is a very good beginner distribution.

No matter what you're going to learn to use the system. I reccomend Ubuntu with Automatix very highly.
