I have a Panasonic CF-19 ToughBook its getting a bit old and slow now on Windows 10 and I can't really be asked to Enroll on the free extended Windows 10 2027 updates as it doesn't seem worth it on this particular machine. It seems to be fine on the internet and YouTube once it eventually gets going.

Specs:
1.6 GHz Processor Dual Core 2 Duo
4GB RAM
SSD 250GB

Preferably I need a light weight stable Linux OS something under 2GB with a desktop environment.

Any recommendations?

Do you have any previous Linux experience?
Many... I've used a number of different distros in the past but its a minefield out there now with all these different Linux Distros, many of them are too heavy for the low specs, something like antiX or Bodhi Linux sounds ideal but I've not tried those in many years.

Lubuntu seems to get a fair few mentions if you want to be really lightweight.
Although it may be light weight its still a bit heavy for the low specs. I used to use that one a lot but its not as light weight as it used to be. I may give antiX 26 a go it seems to the one to go for from what I've read about it in google and its based from Debian 13.

Mx linux Fluxbox or XFCE?
I've not tried antiX in many years but I would assume the XFCE desktop environment would be the lightest to go for.

I just hope my wi-fi works after the installation... seems to be an issue with these ToughBooks where the wifi doesn't work under modern Linux Distros which is very irritating... if not I will have to try another OS. Oh well there is no going back now the antiX Linux system is installing...
