Hi,
Sorry for a newbie question, I have a old laptop cant remember the spec of top of my head, think it has 2 gig ram. It runs like a dog with xp on taking around 5 minutes to log on.
After reading threads on here it seams that linux gives old computers a new lease of life.
Anyway im starting a open uni course soon and would like to use this laptop for my studies, so would like it to be able to browse the net word process and other office stuff. Also i will need to run coldfusion on there with mysql will this be possible? Also would dreamwever or something similar be available?

I have read that people have been having trouble with wireless sky how difficult is this to sort out

Cheers

Its the WPA encryption Sky has the router set at that Linux has a problem with out the box. There are ways to get WPA working on Linux if you search for wpa_supplicant on Ubuntu forums you will get the info needed.

A much easier way is while you still have windows on your pc enter you routers config and change it from WPA to WEP and set your own password not the one sky supplied you with, also uncheck UPNP then reboot the router.

You won't have any problems with Linux and SKy then as long as linux recognises your wireless adapter ok.

To access Sky router: 192.168.0.1 username: admin pass: sky
