Linux - games and apps?

I'd like to use linux as the main OS and XP as the secondary but must be able to use my programs, particularly games and certain apps.

Can I play Steam games like CS:S and DOD:S on linux? Is there any way to do this without having to pay for the option? (I've seen a paid for program which does this but it should be free!)

Also is gimp any good? Photoshop CS2 support would be fantastic, any chance of photoshop on linux?
