Hi, am just doing installations to complete my build and hit a problem with a utility / light os called winki that came with my msi motherboard.

Basically in windows I just connect my android phone via usb and choose usb tethering from menu in phone and I'm connected to internet.

When I boot into winki it shows my network connection isn't connected and won't recognise the usb tethering option is switched on, on the phone.

Anyone know what I can do to fix please?

Hi,

It does show an eth0 entry under wired but not sure if that is referring to the phone which is connected to a usb port or the motherboards ethernet port which is not connected.

The phone should act like a router, sharing its internet connection via the usb connection when the android tethering option is switched on. However, I have a samsung galaxy s and although I'm on gingerbread 2.3.6, it maybe that this issue started in 2.3.3 and is still exhibiting its presence as an android bug even though I'm using a stock rom.

This is what I've managed to research so far but I also have an issue with there not appearing to be a shortcut to terminal in winki. I've also read about switching usb debugging mode on in android but need to give that a go next.
