Hi All,

I'm planning to migrate my desktop, laptop and server to linux over the next month or so and I have a few questions about linux servers.

1) I'm planning on running an active-directory type setup so that all of my setting and documents remain the same whether I log on to my laptop or my desktop. Is this possible under linux? What resources could help me?
2) In light of the above, is there a 'Make Available Offline' feature in linux so that I still have access to my documents when I take my laptop out of the house. Consequently, is there a way to sync my documents automatically at login?
3) I'm currently running a web server on my windows box. I don't want to have my 'my docs' folder on the server unless I know that it can be completely locked down so that only I can access it. Is this possible?

I think thats all for now.

Cheers.

With Sambe running on Linux you can pretty much have all the functionality of a windows DC, So roaming profiles, offline files, and the security is totally flexible to allow you to block or allow any file access you want.

Have a quick read through this... http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Implement_Samba_as_your_PDC#Configure_Windows_XP_clients
