so how do i do this now?

Hahaha...

I would like to say that is a silly question cos when I played with it a while back, I found things easy as pie to get round, I played with a fair few options here and there and yes, I got flames and whorls and fade ins and outs ( not at the same time and not like half the vids on youtube either, but close... ) Im sure ( Although I know I will get corrected ) that when I was playing with Beryl ( As I said before, it was under mandrake / Mandriva on a 7300GT ) Im sure, that all I did, was right click on the desktop and I got access to a config dialog box much like Windows' one.

Things have moved on I suppose, but not that much surely?

I too am kind of an Ubuntu noob... I have liked Mandrake because everything just works for me... Since v10 however, its lost some of its spark for me and I moved to SuSE again, because it just works.

You must also remember too, that if you have a 3D Desktop, then the chances of you actually getting a 3D Game to work will be kind of slim.

I lost the ability completely to mix 3D Desktop and 3D Games and so I stopped caring about the desktop side of things - pretty yes, but functional no... Not yet, and not for me... At the time.

Still going to setup Kubuntu 7.10 however, so here goes...

Oh...Additional...

32 or 64 ? Any of them any more stable than the other?

dude.... i messing with the settings and the bar with minimize, maximize and close disapears 0.0
Had this happen to me too. You can fix it by going into the CCSM and under the Effects category click on the Window Decoration button. Where it says Command type in the following:
Code:
emerald

Think you need to restart Compiz for the change to take effect, but I've not had the problem happen again since I did that change.

Alternatively, you could just open a shell and type
Code:
emerald --replace&
but I find it easier to just make the change in CCSM and not have to worry about it.

Can you take a screenshot of this? I would have guessed that if Flash was working at all it would be rendering everything as expected.

You installed gnash... its a free/open source version of flash, adobes flash is closed source which is why it exists. Gnash is buggy and it isnt finished yet so you need to remove it.

Open synaptic package manager and remove it.
