Yep. But the same could have been said about a few players. Ronaldinho in 2005, Zidane in 2000, even Ronaldo in 2008 only had Messi as competition.

Going further back, when all world players weren't considered, even Van Basten had a 2 year gap in between his 3 Balon d'Ors.

I have no doubt someone will present themselves as a new world star in the next 2 years.
