Ok I'm really worried about this but I dont understand it so it may be nothing.

Ive just put in a new PSU and I noticed what at first seemed like condensation near the screw on the heat sink of my CPU. I dabbed it with a tissue and it had like a yellow hue to it. Is this greece or something, or is it something more sinister?! I'm really concerned about this.. :o

Your CPU is leaking pure liquid processing power

Better plug the hole quick or your CPU will be as powerful as a pentium 2!

Some fans throw oil out of their bearings. It could have then dropped down the fin array.

Could be a heatpipe though. Not quite sure how you could tell if one had leaked. a residue line perhaps running down the heatpipe?

What cooler is it?

I've had friends tell me that using cheap thermal paste (usually silicon based) can be a casue of this since some have some sort of liquid in them and this often separates, leaving the water / liquid behind or it could be the heat pipes leaking.

I've never had this issue so don't quote me on this.

The cooler is an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2

All I know is the residue was on a metal clamp down near where you screw it to the mother board. There wasent loads, just slight residue with a yellow hue..

I have no idea whether its from the pipe or greece or what. I used the paste that was already applied on the cooler and the temps have been fine

If it's got a yellow hue then it's probably mineral oil of some kind and that's non conductive so nothing to worry about there. If it's heatpipe fluid then it's likely to be all you'll ever get.

cool, I wont worry about it then and just monitor things from time to time. When Im in the case I'll have a look again.. And unless I hear anything weird, I'll just carry on. Thanks!

Sorry mate, your post made me laugh. I had a hard time imagining a small European country leaking out of your PSU :). What PSU is it by the way?

A large one, it could be an Albania, a Macedonia, or a Bulgaria.

They all have Greece coming out the bottom. :D

Sorry couldn't resist.
I'll get my coat
