the voltage at 400/900 isn't the same as full 3d.

400/900 (which is uvo clock) is 1.000v
full 3d is 1.087v

i've already got the asus bios on, afterburner only ups the 3d voltage.

i use Windows Media Center which use GPU acceleration and it happens on both dvb-t & dvb-s2 HD, i know its not the tv card making the issues

You're absolutely right, it is 1.000v. Strange then that I haven't had a problem since going to 1.1v with stock clocks. I have noticed though that I get spikes of full clock speed when switching to full screen with VMC, which is odd.

I'm using DVB-S in VMC as well by the way.

++UPDATE++

Tried out a beta bios from msi today for my K9A platinum and now my saphire 5850 is working on my system...it's working very well :)
The bios is 7280V192, contacted their support and they've been working on a solution and got back to me and gave me the link for it. Nice support for a 3 year old board.

Read about a possible fix for the coloured screen problem (where the screen just goes white/brown etc...), try disabling the ATi High Definition Audio Device in the Device Manager.

Hi all

this is what I've got (rig is about 1 month old):
AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE 3.20GHz
Sapphire HD 5850
Corsair TX 650W
Asus M4A785TD-V Evo, bios 0501 and 0505 beta (from ASUS support)
2x2GB A-Data 1333MHz 9CL
Win7 64, 9.11 Catalyst

problem with sapphire 5850 occurred after about one week of normal operation:
On boot HD5850 fan is at full speed, no display no matter how long I wait, but there is HDD activity and windows are being loaded. I checked it and could boot to windows by connecting monitor to IGP, while at the same time HD5850 sounds like a jet engine in the background.

I can force it to boot after power button "smashing", it will boot after a few tries.
Refitting HD5850 into PCI-E on mobo also helps to get instant boot.

Almost always after successful boot I get a error message something like " BIOS failed to recover press F1 to setup" and after setting up bios it'll continue as normal to windows.
Once in windows there is no problem in operation whatsoever. Tests like 3DMark, graphic benchmark and games run smoothly, no freezes, no display defects like white dots. It works normal until next cold boot...
Even got new mobo beta BIOS 0505 from ASUS but it did not help.
