In essence getting from one end of the "map" to the other, using the "environment" to do so.

Someone else can create the maps/levels which can be shared and is "apparently" going to revolutionize gaming in some way.

Don't forget the 'Gem Collecting' - that's a big part of the game, whoever gets the most gems is the winner.

It's a bit of a niche market really. If you're like me and like/have liked in the past making new maps or mods for PC games, you'll probably like doing stuff in this game too.

I haven't heard anyone say it's going to revolutionise gaming though rp :/

In its most basic form its a simple A-B 2D platfomer, but that is not the full story. Each part of every level is customisable if you wish and each character can be fully customized, you can also use jpegs on your PS3 HDD to decorate the levels and/or characters. The basic idea is to get to a goal and collect the most "fluff", this can be a timed race or just a survival type mode or infact how ever you choose the game to be played. This fluff can be used to create stuff in the game, these can be bought into any level, for example you can make a car in another level so you can go across certain hazards. So if you get to a level you can bring this creation into the map and use it to your benefit to get to the end first. The game is online/local 4 player co-op, its competitive too, so you may need others help to get through the level to get to a large amount of fluff, just before you all collect it and share you could push the other players into a pit of lava and claim it all for yourself. The game will ship with over 50 levels and Sony are asking studios to design a level so you could have a uncharted type level or a resistance level with the little sackboys dressed as chimera or as Ratchet. It will also be posible to create different game types such as racing levels, where you can design vehciles to race to the end of the level and such. Another big selling point is that all the levels you make can be shared and rated with the whole LBP community and they can play those levels. Im pretty sure ive probably missed plenty of oter features, and this is mostly from memory so may be a few things inaccurate, this is my most wanted game this year even more than MGS4 ( Solid sack boy would be cool though).

there's loads of hype surrounding the way this game is going to revolutionise gaming... check out most big gaming sites and do a search through the articles!

It won't though, it will just be a niche title.

I think it will be a while before new types of games gain popularity.

This is the only game on the PS3 which makes me want one....looking forward to it's release :)

I don't think it will either - it looks good fun and I look forward to giving it a go, but I doubt it's going to 'break the mold' so to speak.

I think it's a really good idea but on the wrong platform. It seems to fit the wii market much better. Maybe they're hoping that with this and home they can tap into a bigger casual/female market but the ps3 is a bit of a man's toy really.

Well to be fair the PS2 hit that market quite well. Things like Buzz, Singstar etc. sold extremely well. I think the PS3 has a good chance of doing it again and LBP is a step in the right direction.

I don't think it's on the wrong platform, user generated content and online / sharing isn't exactly the Wii's strong points.

It's cute and it appeals to people of all ages. It seems to be very accessible for anyone to use, whether they want to run through a level or just make one. For me LBP and MGS4 are one of the reasons I purchased a PS3, I think it will be great.

I echo the things people have said. This is the one game ive seen on the ps3 that made me go "ooooooooh" :)
