Little Bro's Yaris nicked! :(

its night and two geezers answer your door with the classical "where am I" so you immediatly think nothing suspicious and then one walks off yet the other stays.....damn thats just too suspicious for me, especially the hand shake..I would have slammed the door shut.

Wise choice to night fight too much though, not worth dieing. So if the car does or doesnt come back ~ its not your fault, yet insurance cost will go up? :/

Unfortunatly, had you had a weapon and beat them up, say broken their legs. It would be highly likely that not only would you get arrested but they could claim, its the law...not justice....the law. I remember this t*** from the government saying how he wants to make sure the law doesnt change on burgalars such as having a weapon and being able to do properly defend yourself, when the other 3 families (who were all victims) asked him had he experienced any, his reply - no. Meh, pathetic. We work hard for our stuff and its all good for thiefs take it from us.

I believe there's basically only two outcomes:

*1)
Car is recovered.
Insurance claim pays for repairs.
Insurance premium rises by X.
Car is recorded as a theft effecting future resale.

*2)
Car isn't recovered.
Insurance claim pays for total loss.
Insurance premium rises by Y.
Car ceases to exist.

Now whether the rise in insurance premiums due to a 'total-loss' (Y) is (hugely) greater than a 'stolen-recovered' (X), time shall tell.
But on the face of it, you know that selling a 'stolen-recovered' vehicle in the future shall incur a financial penalty in its self, most likely out-weighing any difference the insurance premiums above may load onto his policy.

Location & return of stolen vehicles, an emotional & financial pain. :(

I find it hard to believe that these people have soo much front to just do stuff like that. Glad your ok though, you can always get another car.
I seem to remember a thread a while back where someone had their car keys stolen from the house. It pays to make sure car keys aren't visible through windows.
I hope they find the car because it could make it hard for your brother to insure another car if he claims for a total loss.
I'll make a note of the reg. and keep me eye out for it, you never know how far they might have gone in it.
Chances are if they find the car it probably won't be too far from where they live, Maybe if they stopped in a fuel station they might have them on cctv.

Thats terrible! I've lived in Salford for 4 years and I've not seen any crime or been the subject of any crime, thats for the people who say manchester is bad.
I live right next to Salford Uni so will keep an eye out.

to be honest, id love to be a true keyboard warrior and say id give them a dam good finishing off with a bat, but in reality, id be so shocked that id probably just stand there numb to it all....

makes you want to have some random hooligan neighbour who you get on with because you fix his pc so he can see 'the porn' and as such, he gives them a dam good shoeing for you... which obviously.. no one sees...

that's awful :( hope you and your bro are ok. Some people are just such ******* *****. chop their hands and feet off. that'd be hilarious fun.

Hope you get it back.

As a side note im sure i heard somewhere that SOME insurance companies wont pay out if the thief gets the key? that say that you did not secure the keys properly. Yes even if they beat you in the face to get them. This may be made up but im sure someone on this forum had keys stolen from his house and had a couple of cars nicked and the insurance was a nightmare, the car insurance said it wasnt them and to claim on the house, and vice versa. Anyone shed some light in this?

why not you should get along nicely :p :D

unlucky about the car at least you knew to back off so didn't get hurt (something i find difficult to do)

Less than 36 hours later & the car has been found & a couple of suspects are in custody!

A Bobby on the street spotted the car wearing a fake set of plates!
Apparently the Police have been tearing the suspects house apart in search of a set of keys.

There's only supposed to be some minor damage to a bumper, although I expect a new set of locks for the doors & ignition shall be required. Fingers crossed it should be returned early next week! Then it's a case of sorting out the insurance details etc

Ten out of ten for da' Police!
