Hi 8pack, I get my new system parts tomorrow and will be wanting to overclock my 5960X. Its gonna be on a Gigabyte Gaming 7 Wifi mobo and 32gb Avexir ddr4 ram. Will be cooled with a h100i and sp140s.
If you get any time away from breaking world records can you give me a little advice. Thanks a lot

Which Avexir are they. The Gaming 7 does not have OC socket so really high mems and Cache is difficult.

I would go with 4.4 1.25-1.3v Core
Cache 3.6 1.25v Cache

SA etc is dependent on mem speed etc.

Start with this and test.

Wow thanks for the quick reply mate. Its these sticks https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-098-AR . Is it difficult to overclock the cpu too because of the board? Also I will still be able to use the memory on the rated 2666mhz wont i? I will change the board if not. This is the board JUNK COMPETITOR!!! NO NEED!!!, Going by one of the pictures showing the IO plate side you can see the OC button.

Man no links to JUNK competitors!!! Why would you buy from that crap site then ask me to help you?? Abit off maybe??

Yes 2666mhz is fine its just 3000+ where issues lie. The board will be fine for 2666/3.5Cache and CPU overclocking its just not ideal for 3.8+ Cache / 3000+ mems and high CPU.

Foe 2666mems use 125 strap enable XMP.
4375 -4.5 CPU 1.25-1.3
3.5 Cache 1.25v
SA +0.25

Test!!

** Rude and insulting comment removed **, the premise isn't that you only help people if they've bought the parts they're asking for help with, from overclockers.

I bought from Ocuk £1200 and elsewhere £1800. Ocuk are a great site, but most of the time not the cheapest. I appreciate the help, but obviously I will buy from where ever is cheaper. I actually never classed that place as a direct competitor, sorry.Parts will be here all by monday so will test that all out, thanks a lot.

For sure I help our customers this is not in question. I just don't support items bought from other sites and don't see why I should.

We don't even stock this particular board. Yes those guys are a competitor as they are selling very similar products to ours. If you buy cheap you get cheap service who at that website has even a clue. Yep no one!!!

Because the reality is that a lot of people buy from other places, and it's an utterly and ridiculous attitude to have.

Spoffle waffle!!

I don't support products bought elsewhere. If I know a product is not bought from OCUK no reason for me to help.

+1

People buy from OcUK for the service we provide, we might not always be the cheapest because were not a box shifter. We are a specialist with pretty much the best customer service and also best knowledge.

We supply these forums free of charge for all to use, but we draw the line where people ask 8 Pack for help on products not purchased from us, we pay his wages not our competitors.

It is OK I shall get my car tuned elsewhere because they can do it cheaper, but then take it to the best tuner in the country when it is not quite right or goes wrong. Will they help me, no they will say to me, buy our remap and we shall then ensure your car is running perfect, otherwise go back to the cheaper place and see if they can help you.

Fair is fair and business is business. :)

I won't post links from that site any longer then 8pack. Although saying they give a cheap service isn't true.

and whilst you have shopped elsewhere, you are still getting assistance.

Spoffle. Ian is employed by OcUK to assist OcUK customers. purchasing your hardware from somewhere else means you arent a customer.

Sure, 8Pack is giving advice still, but why should he. The 8pack advice offered here is a service, a value adder for OcUK. When the rainforest and our competitors get world class overclockers working for them to support their sales, then you would actually have a point.

The OP is still getting assistance here regardless of buying elsewhere, breaking all the forum rules posting competitor links and querying settings on a component not even in our catalogue. The only ridiculous attitude in this thread is your own.

I agree with the OCUK staff here, 8Pack although clearly (and rightly) slightly annoyed by the fact that you're breaking forum rules by posting links to competitors, and also asking for assistance on products which they don't even stock he is still helping and providing assistance.

As a side note, the main 2 reasons OCUK don't stock something is because
a) They don't get on with the manufacturer.
b) They believe that the quality of the products is sub par and not what they want to provide to their customers.

Yes at times they are more expensive then their competitors, but the service they provide is great. I've had no problems returning multiple items under RMA (although a couple of them I never posted, which was my own fault).

THIS!

I have no qualms about the quality per se, but Gigabyte replaced their original range with a newer, smaller range which were kitted out with the expanded CPU socket. At this point I ceased selling the old Gaming 7 because the cheaper Gaming 5P offers better performance for much less money.
